because “white” doesn’t mean anything in that sense. White could mean, English, French, Irish, Italian, Russian, there’s a lot of people who are white. It isn’t an ethnic group. There’s also regional culture, Southern, North Eastern, North Western, Midwestern, every region has its own culture. There’s also just the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this general American culture. It’s not that “white people don’t have culture” it’s that white is too general a term. Politics, mixed with ethnic cleansing. If white people have no culture, then they really aren’t anything distinct. If they aren’t anything then they should have no self-esteem or sense of belonging. If you convince them of that, they’ll develop anxiety and depression. Also you can introduce non-white people to them who will offer them a culture to belong to, and thereby breed white people out of existence.
Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt: Get Cozy in this shirt
What “people” you asking? Pretty bad to define anyone by their ethnicity with perceptions mainly perpetuated by the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this media. A white person can have culture. I doubt most identify as “white culture” given the huge number of white Americans there are, many of which they don’t identify with at all. You start breaking it down into smaller groups, you can start to define culture. Just a bunch of immigrants who have the same skin color in common. Not enough time to really build a culture especially in 50 different states and several territories. Appalachian, Southern, midwestern, PNW, NorCal, SoCal, IE, etc would be sub-groups of americans that have distinctive cultural differences, BUT it’s not explicitly “white american culture”. It’s called racism. Many people will disagree and write paragraphs of nonsense to try and justify their ‘logic’, but it’s just plain ol racism.
Europeans have culture and are white. Perhaps American culture Is a hodge podge of ethnicity as Sheldon from big bang theory used to say. I think the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this argument is asked incorrectly. It shouldn’t be “what’s white culture” it should be “what’s insert ethnicities and nationalities here culture” It’s like the BS got ya question on the street where people are happy about there Hispanic culture or Asian culture or etc but when they ask white culture the person is like eh no. I think they need to reframe the argument. White culture is so vast it’s too umbrella I think to answer and the stigma is there. Obviously I’m very proud of my Ukrainian and Irish heritage and I celebrate that. What y’all think? American: “y’all have a holiday you celebrate? Cool, let me help you. ” If enough of us like it, we might make it a national holiday. Looking at you, St. Patrick’s Day.
About this Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt
Right? Mayonnaise and Obesity is an integral part of white American culture (I’m joking, it’s just a bit of fun with our American cousins, don’t go shooting up a school because you’re angry) Damn straight! It’s about time Mayonnaise, Dixieland jazz, and “I’d like to talk to your manager” get their due rewards. Lol I’m glad other people gave you serious answers because there’s so much that goes into this. Personally the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this only whiteness I have any claim to is from the south….. THAT kinda south, so hard pass. I’d rather have zero culture than connect with that dumpster fire. It’s very common for a lot of us to have a similar story, when “white culture” in America has the roots it does… why on earth would we embrace that? Always makes me laugh as someone from an Italian family. Ya sure we have no culture and don’t season our food (Italian cuisine is literally the best food in this country don’t me)
Then there’s the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this rest of the world saying the us has no culture, while they buy our products, watch our movies, listen to our music, play our video games, and use our social media apps. My culture is meditating to the sound of rain on the roof and hiking in the old growth evergreen forests of the PNW, and I am damn proud of it. There is no such thing as white America. People use the term white as a purity test for racist reasons. We are all different, depending on where we grew up and our original ethnicity. There is certainly a white American culture it is just not very old and as such holds up like paper mache in comparison to African Indian Arab Asian etc cultures Probably because in America, everything’s kinda mixed together. We “don’t have” a culture because we’re a giant melting pot of different cultures from literally everywhere, making what counts as “white American culture” kinda hard to define. Like I’m white, but my culture is some unholy mix of Italian, Irish, Appalachian, and Midwestern. What the hell do you even call that? It might as well not even be a culture. Ask a Native / indigenous American if white people have specific cultural tendencies. I’m sure you’ll get an enlightening answer. I married a gringo too so again, they have their own culture esp if they are ethnic whites (American Italians, Greeks, etc). At the end of the day, I still love the US and I am still proud to be an American “where at least I know I am free”
Yalls culture requires a federal act to stop behaving the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this way you do..your culture is not culture and also where are all yall really from if you don’t know your roots how can you know your culture? “white ” isn’t a meaningful descriptor. ” white” has no real cultural meaning, it is an amalgamation of ideas tenuously related to western European culture…and even so it’s not easy to define the parameters of “whiteness”. Who is “white” ? Anglos, Vikings, Irish, Spanish, Germans, Hebrews, Italians, Russians, English, Americans? There is no geographical, cultural, or racial demarcation for what “white” is. It is just an idea for separating people for social/economic reasons. “whiteness” only becomes meaningful when used to separate one group ” white?” from another group ” not white” for political reasons. People get so up in arms about “whiteness” that they fail to understand that “whiteness” is so vague that is doesn’t really describe anything. It is literally just a goal post in the ” us against them” political game.
You can ask many people who might be under the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this umbrella of “whiteness” ( depending on whom you ask ) what their culture is and they might describe many interesting and diverse traditions….but….WHITE IS NOT A CULTURE IN AN OF ITSELF. White is not a culture. It is a broad category and it’s borders change constantly depending on whom is making the definition. Maybe because so many white Americans feel the need to describe thenselves as “Irish” or “Cuban” or whatever, when that is just where their grandparents came from… A lot if white Americans have culture, but a lot dont. As they integrated into larger white society and into the suburbs, a lot of them either left their cultures behind or suppressed them to one extent or another. That along with racism towards other cultures and unique issues that mixed race people face, a lot of them don’t feel like they have a culture. They don’t know about where their parents immigrated from, and a lot, like a huge portion of it, is simply capitalism and buying shit. And that isolates them even more since inequality it skyrocketing and a lot of them can’t afford to buy shit. Of course white people have culture, even those who have had it erased or suppressed have it, but they don’t feel they can access it and they feel isolated from it. I think that’s a big part of it
Adding to a lot of the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this good points people are making, the US is really good at exporting its own culture abroad and so that “normalizes” a lot of those customs and behaviors to outsiders that may see those as banal. Something as simple as having eggs and toast for breakfast. That’s culture, just like how Taíno indians having cassava and parrot as a staple dish is part of their culture. There’s a lot of culture that flies under our radar because it’s part of our everyday lives. The “white” culture of the Boston Irish is different from the New York Italian, is different from the Chicago Polish, is different from the English South Carolinian. The USA is a blend of many cultures. A Norwegian who lives in the forest of Minnesota will have different festivals, cuisine, traditions, worldview and nuances than a rural Lafayette French Cajun, upper class Scotch-Irish from New England or a German roadside kolache stop owner in Central Texas.
It is very rare for a group of people organized by skin color to have a specific unique culture, if this ever does happen…shit probably went down at some point. I don’t think “white” is a culture really, and there’s a lot of reasons here. Americans have a culture, but not “White”. A white guy from America is going to be completely different culturally from a white guy living in the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this baltics. You take these two people and try to deduce their cultural similarities, what are those going to be? We have “Black Culture” in the United States, which is complicated, but the only reason that even exists is that in the early years of the country these people were all lumped together and relegated to certain roles. Even then, this is a shaky argument. If you have a 1st generation Jamaican immigrant to the US and try to argue there is a “Black Culture” that Jamaican presumably has…the argument isn’t going to go far.
Because yt ppl don’t have any culture. What people are confusing for white culture is ethnic culture, ie Germanic, Nordic, British…none of which are strictly white. White culture is literally just cultural appropriation, and being offended when called out for it. But also because ‘white’ is not a race, white Americans have many different cultures, depending on their ancestral heritage. White people don’t have an ubiquitous unified culture because British, and German, and Polish people, as a few examples, have wildly different cultures and all of them are considered white. Go to New Orleans and see the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this music played on the street every day. Taste the food and see the people. That’s just one unique aspect of America culture (props given to mainly black folks who pioneered the culture and music but still overall American.
Go to New England and you will encounter another group of white folks with unique traditions and the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this ability to handle harsh winters. No, really. Contrary to popular opinion, words have definitions, not just subjectively defined by who decides at the moment what the definition is, to use to their liking. And the definition of racism is very clear. Insisting white people have no culture is about as racist as insisting black people have no culture. Anyone who says otherwise is being dishonest, or does know the definition of racism. I would say it’s because ‘whiteness’ isn’t a culture. Like, Catholic white people in Louisiana with French ancestry and Protestant white people in the Midwest with Swedish ancestry aren’t really vibing the same. If there are cultural traditions they either come from the area people live, the religion they are, or the ancestry of their family, none of which you can really mash up into ‘whiteness’. My partner’s family has Russian ancestry and they have all these Christmas traditions I’d never heard of and eat food I’d never seen in my life. My family is Catholic and he is equally mystified by our traditions. You could probably say the Midwest has a culture and the South has a culture and like, California has a culture but that’s as far as I’d take it.
It’s probably more about ethnicity/heritage. The culture of an Irish American Catholic is not the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this same as the culture of the Italian Americans or Greek Americans. Because “white culture” is not a culture. I’m a WASP my culture is incredibly different from that of my culturally Catholic husband. “White” is not a coherent group. The only reason “black culture” is a thing is because that is a culture born of a specific cultural origin (slavery). White isn’t a cultural group. Just as you wouldn’t say “European culture” because there are different European nations and regions, each with their own unique culture, you wouldn’t say “White culture” in the US because while there are similarities between a bunch of white 20 somethings in Seattle and a bunch of white people in their 70’s in Alabama, to say they’re the same culture is to gloss over a LOT of really important differences. Hell, even for 20’s somethings in Seattle, if you had a group of MAGA “Young Republicans” and a group of left leaning Democrats, how much culture can you really say they have in common?
No one says they don’t have a culture. Some see it as a primitive culture given how new it is compared to some of the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this others around the world. Because white American is not a homogeneous group with a singular culture. There’s midwestern, southern, Appalachian, coastal, ect. The United States is too big for “white American culture” to be one thing. It’s more like East Coast culture, Midwest culture, West Coast culture, etc. As a ‘white’ person I identify mainly with my Italian heritage rather than some sort of ‘white’ culture. I imagine most people are the same. I used to have this point of view, until I became American myself. I realized that the USA has culturally colonized the whole world to the point that the culture’s spread over the world and ubiquity makes it virtually invisible. Well…my culture is white trash Nascar, bikers, adultery, religious extremism, and a healthy dose of pills/meth. I’ll stick to claiming no culture and claim my only relative was my irish traveler great grandmother Bonnie who took a knife to the side at the circus. Because they’re basically “mutts” so they’re a mix of a bunch of stuff so since they’re so many things at once they don’t follow one so they’re just “American” whereas for example in my family all 4 of my grandparents are Greek and 3 were born there so my family directly traces our roots somewhere whereas my dads friend is like Irish Italian British etc all mixed together so he doesn’t really have one particular culture. Whatever, wherever or whomever has tried to convince you of this is toxic and you need to run. you are likely being indoctrinated by some very self serving people. This question is general and full of assumptions that are not true or so general as to be completely useless for a meaningful discussion.
They do? Belittling other cultures is their biggest traits. Segregating themselves from minorities in the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this most legal way possible. Kicking minorities out of their neighborhoods. Calling the police on someone who is having fun with their kids in the park. Supporting blue lives after they Gun down a 12 year old. Putting raisins in everything they can think of. White American culture is thriving! There is no “white” culture until the left needs to say things like “white culture is racist” even Smithsonian had their exhibit against “white culture” It’s all just a thing they are gaslighting us on to try to drive us crazy. White America treats its cultural beliefs and touchstones as “normal”. Same way that people talk about not having an accent. Also as people have pointed out, white people may be part of a culture but the only unifying element of white culture is white supremacy.
I am of south east asian decent and I love some white traditions. I was born in Hong Kong, but grew up in Dallas. My culture is country/western, I’ve competed in reining/rodeo my entire life. I wear western boots, hat, spurs, big belt buckle, boot cut jeans etc most days. I am surrounded by people of the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this same culture, and our food and music and everything that comes with it. I’m white, and that is my culture. But it is not WHITE culture, it is not exclusive to white people. My community of this culture is VERY diverse, we have plenty of people of color. I have countless peers who are Latino, black, of various types of Asian descent, and more. Here in Europe people tend to make fun of Americans for having no culture, but it is not linked to skin colour in any way. Some Europeans live in houses that are older than the united states of America and it tends to blow the Americans mind that this is possible. The main reason for that (to my understanding) is that there is not really any recorded history from the times before European settlers (invaders) arrived. And the native Americans in northern America also did not leave any (at least not many) structures such as buildings behind. It’s different in south and middle America where the advanced civilizations of the Americas resided, also the population there mostly mixed with Europeans (e.g. in Colombia) instead of being replaced.
I do not agree about making fun of people for “having no culture”, I am just trying to explain where this sentiment comes from among some Europeans. I hope it helped. As somebody that has been to american multiple times I can guarantee that Americans have a culture, in fact they have countless local cultures. I do not like all of them but they certainly exist. It’s fair to say White Americans do have culture, but it depends on who and where you spend your time. White Southerners have a distinct cultural Difference from Northerners which is different from Westerners and MidWest. And the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this culture depending on where you are from can be closely integrated or distinctly segregated from Black cultures, Latin Cultures, or any other cultural group you can think of. Nonblack and non Latino Southern Culture is distinctly white built on the racial history of the region, mainly due to the history of the racial disparity created by white southerners. We can get into a whole essay on this but I am going to avoid further discussion because a lot of white southerners are offended when reminded their culture is built on oppression of other races, particularly blacks.
I think all of us have a culture. It mostly depends on what part of the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this country you’re born and raised in, and your parents’ own culture. I guess people say that cause traditional white culture became so dominant/popular that a lot of non white people adopted it, to the point that it no longer sticks out as culturally unique, for example a lot of non white people celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween etc., so these things no longer feel culturally unique to white people, on the other hand non Indians don’t celebrate Diwali, or non Chinese don’t celebrate Chinese new year etc., so these cultural events stick out as more unique. Also most white Americans lost touch with their European heritage, they don’t speak the language, they don’t know the old school customs / traditions etc., the other minorities have parents who are recent immigrants so they are still close to their heritage, but by the 3rd generation onwards they too lose their connections to their old homes, and adopt more standard American culture As other people said, like a fish describing water. It just is everyth8ing we do from pledge of allegiance at 7am in school, to the president addressing the entire world right from your dinning room at night.
Sometimes I like to pretend my heritage isn’t from the Cowboy Cat You’ve Just Buttered Your Last Biscuit Shirt and I love this boat step for step beside racism, pillaging, and genocide. Because white encompasses too many different cultures. If instead you said British, French Italian etc you might actually be able to discern specific culture partly because usa is so diverse, spread out and large population. “white americans’ encompasses italian, german, spanish, british, russian, polish, ukraine, irish, scottish, british, welsh, romania, hungary and many many more heritages. Each may have their own traditions. i laugh all the time at “stuff white people do” and stuff white people like..which often has some truth to the posts, videos or lists. Because it was all borrowed from other races and cultures. I’ll start: Country music originated from black communities. 351 more repliesBecause racists convinced everybody that you’re not actually Polish/italian/irish/scottish/german. You’re white, and you’re evil and you suck and you founded this country in slavery in 1619. It’s not no culture it’s just way less. US has like 500 years of cultural development. Compared to just about everywhere else having 1000s of years of cultural development. Because they don’t. All of you have come from some European country. That’s your culture. But it seems that most of you have forgotten where your ancestors came from. Must suck to be American.
