Ah yes you never saw that it was old…. You sure you never tasted somethign with a hint preindustrial revolution? After all the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this years, wouldn’t the sublimation of “freezer burn” ruin the meat, if not make it just riddled with ice “potholes”? It might get a layer of ice on it that helps with that, plus it would only be the skin/top layers of fat that’s getting dried out on a whole frozen animal, which is usually removed during subsequent butchery anyway. edit: It probably wouldn’t be good though after 40+ years, but equally I’m not sure that it would be actually ruined. Probably just a bit tough, if that. Smaller cuts of meat are dry-aged for very long amounts of time in some cases and they end up still being juicy and tender, and a whole carcass is much more resistant to drying out because of the relatively low surface area to mass.

Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt details

I’ve heard that it’s quite common for international meat import/export to have deep freeze facilities that sometimes keep stuff on ice for sometimes years at a time before it gets shipped to destination for packaging and date labelling as a means of balancing supply and demand for price regulation. Maybe it was NZ lamb I read about for this. I think if it’s done in a certified way it’s totally fine. If the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this freezer was kept constantly under 0F, sublimation would never happen. That “if” carries a lot of weight. From personal experience, meat in my kitchen fridge’s freezer (that I can’t set lower than -2 without ice forming around the fan) will get freezer burn after a few months. And storing bread more than a week is just out of the question. By contrast, my garage chest freezer that sits around -10F (at the top) still has a package or two of bulk chicken thighs from 2020 in the bottom and they come out just like the day they went in.
Edit – a person below me added some good context. Turns out I was misinformed and sublimation doesn’t magically quit below 0F. Instead, So roughly speaking, for every 20F you drop, sublimation is one third as much, which probably accounts for the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this “rule of thumb” as I heard it. Sublimation happens quicker the closer you are to 32F (freezing point of water), but will still happen at a slower rate at 0F. I’m certain some stuff from here is still edible: Given its always been postulated that the men got lead poisoning from improperly canned foods, I don’t think that’s a good idea. Canned food was in its infancy, and there weren’t modern standards. They sealed the cans with lead, which leaked lead directly into the food. It’s why the men supposedly deteriorated so fast and made so many wrong decisions, despite being well acquainted with arctic conditions. Also remember hearing about civil war era rations getting used during the Spanish-American war. Iirc more American casualties were from the rations than combat. I haven’t heard that particular one but It wouldn’t surprise me. Up until the mass use of antibiotics and germ theory in general, the bulk of casualties were non combat related. Poor food/water while on compaign was always a huge killer. From kings down to the average grunt. It’s technically safe indefinitely as long as it’s frozen the whole time, I believe needs to be 0 degrees or less, can’t thaw at any point and refreeze. Quality will go down with age but it’s still edible.

How to buy this Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt

There’s a lot of stories out there of people eating wooly mammoth meat. 40 years doesn’t sound bad compared to 10 thousand years. Solzhenitsyn wrote in “Gulag archipelago” how on Kolyma gulag there was an excavation at Kolyma river where scientists discovered tens of thousands year old frozen fish. The prisoners ate those prehistoric frozen animals. That book was really hard to read, many stories that were really hard to comprehend how humans can be so bad with each others. Also, didn’t the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this people that tried the woolly mammoth meatball get sick? Either that or they said; “yeah eating this thing will not go well for you” Edit: not inherently poisonous but made from myoglobin proteins cultured by a biotechnics lab. The protein has been extinct for thousands of years and that humans today may be allergic to it. There are other stories of “woolly mammoth burgers” but those are just adding the myoglobin to plant based patties so your mileage may vary with “woolly mammoth meat” So nobody has tried it? Fuck, I’ll give it a whirl. A world first for humanity or I’ll go out shittin’, let me roll those dice. According to USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service Guidelines, when you properly store food, including meat, at 0 degrees Fahrenheit, it remains safe to consume indefinitely.
Ate a can of ravioli recently that had been expired for 14 years, meaning it was close to 20 years old, and they were perfectly fine. I recently ate a jar of madras curry spice with a spoon which expired in 1992 and it tasted like eating an Egyptian mummy. My MIL threw out all the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this meat in our freezer last year because it was “expired”. The packaging said it was a year old, but I kept telling her it was fine because it was in the freezer. This comment makes me angry all over again. Well I’m just going to say this, you can’t be assured that the product did not thaw at some point over those 40 years. Power failures, etc. You can probably sniff the meat but that doesn’t work 100% of the time. Except for the “40 years” part of his comment, which was actually its whole point – that the risk of it having been thawed at some point is way higher. Men were keeling over all around me. I can still hear the retching, screaming. I sent 16 of my own men to the latrines that night! Not really. There was very little in the way of refrigeration back then so when they wanted meat they would slaughter and cook and animal. Pretty much all the meat was consumed at that time. Eating bad meat back then was just as bad for you as its now. Just like in places today with no refrigeration, most people would generally consume meat that was cured in some way, either by salting and barreling, or making sausages, bacon, or jerky. If you wanted fresh meat, you’d buy a lamb or a sheep or a goat, slaughter and eat the same day. You could also confit – cook and store in fat.
They ate the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this entire thing, the Chef was cleaning up after the meal and discovered the date stamped on the packaging When I was in prison we wondered why we were being served salmon. Then one of the guys working in the kitchen told us the blocks of fish came in 50 lb frozen water bricks labeled “NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION”. My guess is, the same sort of thing was going on here. Larry Lawton on YouTube said when he was in prison they were serving food that was from the gulf war, like 15 old at the time he was incarcerated It’s a logistics problem. It’s cheaper to throw some food away and make new food, than to save all food from being wasted. Literally, people claiming it’s illegal or could be sued are incorrect. It’s that to give away food you’d need to hire distribution, organise personnel, pay salaries, label and package and everything in between. It’s not done because it’s illegal, it’s not done because it’s not financially viable for most businesses to do. Which is why places like second harvest and innumerable aide agencies hand out food. No need to set up shit, already exists. And having worked with them, if America gets off its ass and do something about its food waste problem, we wouldn’t have hungry people. We got something similar from New Zealand when I worked in the coal mine up in Svalbard. They had bought sheep that were labled: “could also be consumed by humans” but it was unedible. Couldn’t even chew through it. It was probably the oldest sheep they had which probably died on their own and was found in a ditch a week later.
I could if there is anything you’d like to know about it. It’s shut down now tho, I guess 1-2 years ago because the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this government in Norway wanted to look more environment friendly. It’s a cold dark place with no trees or anything, really. Just mountains, snow and sea. Everything is trying to kill you non stop, the mountain could collapse, avalanches, polar bears and foxes with rabies. 2/10, would not reccomend unless you wanted a braindead job that paid 120k a year. My favorite part every time I hear this story is that I can tell the EXACT same story from the galley of the aircraft carrier I was on for 3 years and did 3 deployments. We would get bricks of salmon just like this with the good ole “not for human consumption” on it. Gotta love how much our government doesn’t give a fuck about us.
It’s the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this same supply system. I remember sitting in the wardroom and watching a CS walk by with a box from the freezer labeled “for military and prison use only” I never served any real time, but got arrested for stupid shit right after highschool. They gave us some purple meat with white swirls in it and some said ” the fuck is this shit some zebra meat” lol Federal Us low here, and we got a ton of white fish between 05 and 2010, wonder if it was the same thing? I definitely remember the food service administration saying they bought whatever was cheapest that fit their absolute minimum health requirements. One thing about the “not for human consumption” tags we saw, was mainly due to the expiration date. The meat that had those tags would be a few days from the expiration date. Either way I am still somewhat convinced that they fed us pet food judging by the taste I’m the army I had CP duty a few times and all of the larger MRE boxes said something to the effect of, “not for human consumption, prison and military only”
I don’t know if it’s my mind exaggerating things but I also remember part of the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this message saying not to feed to animals either. This in the US? With how much we spend on incarcerated people I wish we actually used that money towards treating them like people. Seeing those prison food hacks is neat, but how about just giving them actual food? Sadly, same thing goes for public schools. Those prison hacks you see are people who bought their own food from the prison store known as the commissary, which also makes a profit off prisoners by charging exorbitant rates for basic, highly processed, low nutrition products. Big brother is locked up. He has a $70 a month limit I can spend on him to order stuff from the commissary for him. There is also a $3 transaction fee and a $4 convenience fee every time I order something.
fun sized bags of chips are $2. Ramen is ¢75 a package. Candies range from $2 up to $6 depending on the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this type. Individual drink mixes are $1 each. Coffee is $6 a bag a has enough to make like 3 cups. The most frustrating part. Is when they fill the order, if they don’t have an item, they don’t even give me a refund on it. They will substatute the missing item with a mini sleeve of saltine crackers that they charge like $3 each for. You are not at all the first person I’ve heard say that they’ve seen meat in prison labeled not for human consumption. It’s one of many reasons why I was thinking about this. Okay, well I’m making an assumption that you’re in the US. Correct me please. But basically how is the way the US prison systems are run not an eighth amendment violation against cruel and unusual punishment? What prompted me to think about this was seeing a video of a defendant in jail appearing on a zoom call in front of a judge. And another inmate comes up behind the defendent and beats the crap out of him. The best I can figure is the general American public has an attitude that people have done some crime and therefore they deserve whatever they get. And that can mean having violence perpetrated against them, being malnourished, being fed food not meant for humans, being not allowed access to toilet paper, being raped. A whole host of other things that people who have been in prison could talk about. And it’s not like we’re talking about “we” think this is okay for violent and sexual offenders. We treat most prisoners this way.
You want to learn something really depressing? Look up 8th amendment cases that went to the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this Supreme Court, there’s incredibly few and the bar to reach ‘cruel and unusual’ is very high. My wife did a phone support line that was meant for prisoners who were victims of violence and abuse and she would have prisoners basically beg to keep her on the line just so somebody would listen to them talk about what they were experiencing. She knew there was nothing she could do and it was an incredibly depressing job all around I swear I heard before it has to be cruel AND unusual for anything to happen? So punishment can be cruel or unusual only and it’ll be “fine” Wardens in some states are allowed to keep the surplus from their budgets, it’s a way to make them be cost effective. The result though is cost cutting horrific, all so some grease balls can buy a third or fourth home to put on Airbnb.
He has eaten a lot of old MREs which may be fully or partially edible. We’re talking Vietnam War, Korean War, WW2 and older. I think the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this oldest ones were Crimean War British rations. There was also civil war hardtack. I’m sure many countries are handing out frozen beef that’s been around longer than any of us would be comfortable knowing about. But there is no way they want to tell us that the cooling chain was undisrupted between 1975 and 2015, in China Isn’t that a good way to get incredibly sick? I remember seeing a post on Reddit a couple weeks ago about a guy baging his first deer and storing it in his chest freezer. A commenter recommended keeping a glass of ice with a quarter on top inside your freezers to warn you if any of the meat thawed and refroze so you don’t get sick from eating spoiled meat
I fill a water bottle like 1/3 of the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this way and freeze it sideways… after frozen keep it upright. That way you don’t have to lose a quarter, lol. I’d guess the freezers usually being used are massive and hold temperature for long periods of time even without power Issue is that you don’t know if its been kept in the cold chain for all those years. The 50year old meat story is a bit apocryphical at this point. I’ve heard it several times over a number of years, but never seen any actual proof. You can just get a thermometer with an alarm on it if the temperature gets to a certain point. That’s what I did for my chest freezer in the garage after the power outlet went bad and had to be replaced. Also, depending on the temperature outside the chest freezer and how much frozen food you have inside the freezer you may have a couple days before it’s thawed.
That’s exactly what they have in food storage warehouses. Each storage area has multiple temperature sensors that are monitored via PC and everything gets logged. You can set the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this software to throw an alarm and send an email to the relevant people in case temps get too high or low. This was just for fruit too, I imagine the places that handle meat have more in-depth systems. Source: used to be the food safety delegate for a huge company that ships fruit all over the world. IIRC it will be safe to consume, but being frozen for long periods affects the quality. So it’d taste like shit. And given it’s been frozen for 40 years probably to the point it’d be considered inedible to most people I’d imagine.
There was an episode of SeaQuest where a character found some old frozen beef to make a hamburger. He cooked it with wood from a vintage baseball bat. In the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this end he had it confiscated by Roy Scheider who did take a bite. That reminds me of the time when I was about 6 when ny family was staying at a hotel in a beach town and Roy Scheider was also there for some reason. He was reading a newspaper in the dining area when a boy went up to him to ask for his autograph, and Scheider gruffly rebuffed him. When the boy wouldn’t leave alone, Scheider did take a bite out of the boy. I remember this story back then, I believe it was from a military strategic food storage in the PRC and that was prepared for the ww3 in case it happens. They don’t really do cheese in China so they figured ‘let’s try meat’ instead. Turns out beef aged in a locker for 37 years? Not as good as cheddar is under those conditions.
My grandfather was a conscript in the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this french army during the algerian war, he was here in 1957-1958. He told me several times he was being served frozen meat which came back from Indochina (which at that point, became 4 independant countries since at least 3 years). The smell was so disgusting that the cooks stopped unfreeze it. They just cut the frozen parts with an axe and throwed it in boiling water. I can imagine that old meat was probably significantly more disgusting in 1957 than in 2024. Gross nonetheless, but I have more confidence in the ability to keep it frozen solid now. My wife is Chinese and I asked her about this. She said that most Chinese avoid frozen meat for this reason and call it ‘zombie’ meat. I do most of the cooking and sometimes use frozen tilapia for soup, when she found out it was previously frozen it was not a fun conversation explaining the US has standards for food storage and preservation. Can I ask what soup you are making with frozen tilapia? I’m on a seafood kick lately and a soup with tilapia sounds wonderful.
Until the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this US slapped a 25% tariff on Chinese-processed fish a few years back, a large amount of frozen fish in our market was processed there. Then off-shore processor ships to try to circumvent the tariffs became the next loop-hole. “Almost half a billion dollars worth of smuggled frozen meat – some of it rotting and more than 40 years old – has been seized in China, official media have reported”. Their government runs a “strategic pork reserve”, so it’s definitely doable. But the “illicit” in the article seems to suggest that this probably isn’t part of the strategic pork reserve. Or this could be from the reserves that are meant to be thrown away but some corrupted officials took this opportunity to make money by selling it. That amount of meat can mean millions in dollars.
It’s not unlikely that a small unit goes out of business and their unit gets forgotten. Records get lost. The rule of first in, first out gets forgotten and a box gets forgotten in a corner. Are you sure? a semi trailer is 50,000lbs of cargo, that’s only 70 trucks worth. I’ve been in a couple cold storage warehouses that could hold about that much based on what my half asleep brain is calculating. I would guess like 10x that much While properly frozen meat is safe to eat, eating anything frozen for a year or more is not recommended, cause its gonna taste like shit. “100,000 Tonnes of Illicit Frozen Meat Was the Cleveland Guardians Re-Signed Shane Bieber with a Player Option for 2026 Signature Poster shirt Also,I will get this Name of My Band in Middle School” was the name of my band in high school. Surely it has ended up costing more to store it than it can ever be sold for at that point. Unless it’s constantly changing hands and being sold on? That is actually a serious mad-cow disease risk for the consumer. I would stay away from meat slaughtered before countermeasures were put in place for that kind of thing. It is also FORTY YEARS OLD! If labeled I never buy any groceries from China. Most common thing is ginger and canned “Italian” tomatoes. They are from China and only canned or whatever in Italy and therefore can be labeled as “Italian”. These tomatoes are a toxic mix they found out Yes but the problem is if they can it in italy, they’re called italian tomatoes. So how does one avoid chinese products if labelled in that manner?
