But anyway, perception is reality. Maybe there really is a toxic person making their work life difficult. But I’d also be willing to bet that the Christmas Tree Santa T-Rex Dinosaur Xmas Lights Matching T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this other person might tell a similar story. These types of conflicts are never one sided. In my experience, it takes two immature parties to create such a dynamic. If there’s one immature party causing a problem, only other immature parties will engage. I can’t tell you how much of my management career has been mediating grown adults. Meanwhile, the rest of the office is working and not paying any attention to their shenanigans. Yeah maybe it was, but that theme is ridiculous enough not to comment on and not what I was responding to. All good though. While no conflict is one sided, it is short sighted to make assumptions. As a manager myself, I prefer to get as many facts and details as possible before I go deciding on who is at fault vs who isn’t. There are absolutely toxic people that can simply make others miserable, and bad managers allow this because they don’t want to deal with the drama, which is understandable but wrong.

This puts people in situations like the Christmas Tree Santa T-Rex Dinosaur Xmas Lights Matching T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this OP where they aren’t comfortable going to functions and can be a serious indicator of a poor workplace culture overall. In this case there is nothing to indicate that the OP has engaged in any of the immature behavior you suggest. If anything it seems as if they haven’t even brought it up to their manager and have internalized it to get by until they can find somewhere else to go, which is really a pretty mature way of handing these things. Course this was a much longer time but I loved my farewell part after 14 years. As many of us worked remote I didn’t get to see folks on a daily basis. My wife came out as well. They had a memory book with pics from meetings. Some nice presents, kind of come and go but probably had 40-50 people show up and we had a great time. My farewell letter went to 200+ people of teams I had worked with all over North America. Work can just be a job, it can also bring friendships and fulfillment. I’m retiring next year from a different company and hoping this group of folks does something similar. Hardest part of retiring is the friendships. I still have lunch quarterly with a guy I hired 20 years ago even though we’re at different companies now.
