Back in the day I would constantly have to reinstall Windows on my FIL’s computer as he would delete system files all the time and claim he wasn’t mucking around. Dude, the shit my husband’s grandma has gotten into on her computer is amazing. I don’t even understand how she finds herself down the rabbit holes she does. She’s the old lady who writes a whole ass email in the subject line and then sends it to herself instead of the other person, and had her computer locked down by ransomware. She couldn’t remember the password to her email, so she somehow managed to create 30 something new email accounts. Most old people don’t want to learn. A family friend wanted me to come and fix her phone because “telegram and facebook disappeared”. I declined because when I have tried to explain how to reinstall apps, she basically ignores everything I say. It’s like her brain goes blank and no information gets in. Oh man, my mom is basically like this. She needs to use her laptop for work but is technologically illiterate and refuses to learn. For example she refuses to use the taskbar to maximize and minimize and instead constantly just closes and opens documents and folders. Also same situation as yours when it comes to her phone.

The worst part is that in all situations she doesn’t want me to teach her how to fix it, she just wants me to fix her problem so she can get on with whatever she was doing.
