Critical thinking is taught in schools just unfortunately there’s too many schools not doing a good enough job, and too many kids with the Character Collage Stranger Things Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this mentality of ‘why do I have to pay attention in English class when I speak it?’ Also doesn’t solve anything. Kids with critical thinking skills raised into a society where the costs of necessaries like healthcare and housing are astronomical are still, one direction or the other, going to be radicalized. Too many kids whose parents aren’t invested in their education because they’re too busy trying to meet their other needs. So that millionaires can work their way to being trillionaires while people like trump back them, while telling their destitute followers that he is working for them.

Now that I think about it, they should change the Character Collage Stranger Things Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this name of the subject because of that exact reasoning. Maybe to including but not limited to literature, or writing, or even world speech or something like that. Maybe it’s too small an issue to care about. Technically I think the majority of schools have changed it to language arts, but I agree the terminology might be in need of an update. Many of the subjects were talking about here don’t send their kids to school, opting for “homeschooling.” This kid are lost before they ever had a chance. While I don’t disagree that teaching critical thinking is important, you’re making a mistake in thinking that’s all it’s going to take. Humans are emotional first and logical 2nd. Doesn’t matter what country, class, social status etc. The emotion drives the logic, not the other way around. It’s how propaganda effects people even when they are completely aware that what they are viewing is propaganda made to mentally sway them. The real way to combat this is with exposure to different ideas and people. There’s a reason why cities and colleges have more liberal and open minded people. They meet everyone from different walks of life. When you realize everything you were told about a certain race is bullshit, or a comonly held belief gets challenged, that’s what keeps people out of pitfalls of trumpism or nazi-idealogy. Schools can’t even effectively teach people to read and do basic math at the moment, what makes you think they could even broach a complicated topic like that?
