A while back my child had a therapist that reached out to us listing pronouns. I don’t recall if specified “pronouns” but it was confusing when they had two names listed, depending on source, similar but one was masculine and the Cbeebies Logo Bog Off shirt and I love this other feminine, so the Spidey senses were definitely going. Lol I tried not to mind. Our issue was mostly that this person was too focused on themselves, a poor communicator and also a physical therapist. My husband and I made the decision that we didn’t want to move forward because this person seemed unstable and we didn’t want that around our child as any kind of authority, especially regarding health related things. (Not math for example…) We felt the same about a teacher that clearly was just a typical married woman but she had to go ut of her way to emphasize her new marriage and that her new last name is so funny etc. She made a whole presentation about it the first day. These types of things are too personal and sadly with the way our education system is lacking as it is, we prefer to keep anything like that out entirely. Of course if it reflects some kind of mental health issue that’s not being addressed appropriately that’s a red flag.

Oh I get it, your wife signed off the Cbeebies Logo Bog Off shirt and I love this letter the usual way of her title and name and then following that their preferred pronouns in brackets like (she/her) and the school got upset? Yeah I understand, the recent backlash of transgender athletes I think was the final straw that made many just shake their heads at the “preferred pronouns” situation that they want nothing to do with it. Your wife didn’t do anything wrong, but the social situation is changing rapidly and it was just weird timing when it happened. The compromise of just contacting the parent that complained was probably for the best outcome to settle with and I hope it settled without too much drama Inclusiveness aside, I work in a field where I need to list people’s genders on paperwork based on information they provide on applications (underwriter, and no not every state requires that people send in a copy of their license or that they list gender on their app).
