I do not agree about making fun of people for “having no culture”, I am just trying to explain where this sentiment comes from among some Europeans. I hope it helped. As somebody that has been to american multiple times I can guarantee that Americans have a culture, in fact they have countless local cultures. I do not like all of them but they certainly exist. It’s fair to say White Americans do have culture, but it depends on who and where you spend your time. White Southerners have a distinct cultural Difference from Northerners which is different from Westerners and MidWest. And the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this culture depending on where you are from can be closely integrated or distinctly segregated from Black cultures, Latin Cultures, or any other cultural group you can think of. Nonblack and non Latino Southern Culture is distinctly white built on the racial history of the region, mainly due to the history of the racial disparity created by white southerners. We can get into a whole essay on this but I am going to avoid further discussion because a lot of white southerners are offended when reminded their culture is built on oppression of other races, particularly blacks.
Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt: Embrace Your Uniqueness
I think all of us have a culture. It mostly depends on what part of the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this country you’re born and raised in, and your parents’ own culture. I guess people say that cause traditional white culture became so dominant/popular that a lot of non white people adopted it, to the point that it no longer sticks out as culturally unique, for example a lot of non white people celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween etc., so these things no longer feel culturally unique to white people, on the other hand non Indians don’t celebrate Diwali, or non Chinese don’t celebrate Chinese new year etc., so these cultural events stick out as more unique. Also most white Americans lost touch with their European heritage, they don’t speak the language, they don’t know the old school customs / traditions etc., the other minorities have parents who are recent immigrants so they are still close to their heritage, but by the 3rd generation onwards they too lose their connections to their old homes, and adopt more standard American culture As other people said, like a fish describing water. It just is everyth8ing we do from pledge of allegiance at 7am in school, to the president addressing the entire world right from your dinning room at night.
Sometimes I like to pretend my heritage isn’t from the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this boat step for step beside racism, pillaging, and genocide. Because white encompasses too many different cultures. If instead you said British, French Italian etc you might actually be able to discern specific culture partly because usa is so diverse, spread out and large population. “white americans’ encompasses italian, german, spanish, british, russian, polish, ukraine, irish, scottish, british, welsh, romania, hungary and many many more heritages. Each may have their own traditions. i laugh all the time at “stuff white people do” and stuff white people like..which often has some truth to the posts, videos or lists. Because it was all borrowed from other races and cultures. I’ll start: Country music originated from black communities. 351 more repliesBecause racists convinced everybody that you’re not actually Polish/italian/irish/scottish/german. You’re white, and you’re evil and you suck and you founded this country in slavery in 1619. It’s not no culture it’s just way less. US has like 500 years of cultural development. Compared to just about everywhere else having 1000s of years of cultural development. Because they don’t. All of you have come from some European country. That’s your culture. But it seems that most of you have forgotten where your ancestors came from. Must suck to be American.

How I can buy this Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt
Because they don’t. Whiteness is a sociopolitical class. There are ethnicities of white people that have their own distinct cultures but most white Americans do not identify with those elements. So what even is white culture. Unlike Black American culture I can’t name anything that’s unique to white Americans other than chattel slavery and Jim Crow. Interesting question because why do so many around the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this world want to live here? I mean besides the fact that we let anyone and everyone just walk in and stay forever, unlike any other developed nation in the world. Copium. Those who cannot compete in wealth and might will always cope by portraying themselves as culturally superior. Half of Canadian identity is literally “We aren’t savages like those Americans” for example.
Because “white” isn’t a culture. You can have cultural customs within a particular segment of white (Irish, Croatian, whatever) but white Americans don’t have “a culture” specific to being white. (Unless you want to classify white supremacist culture as white American culture, but I’m sure you don’t want to do that, even though it’s true.) And much more, and this was just Europe. Africa and the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this east had a lot going on before America was even becoming America. So technically America is a young culture because there simply been less time as a culture. It is also a country of immigrants, despite how Republicans think things are it was settlers from the British Empire and Europe that Colonised the land mass that became America. Everything from that from language, culture, technology came from there. I get the meaning of your post and yes, when Europe people see all these Tik Tok’s from Americas that make them want to face palm on a more historical sense America really has a young culture compared to most of the world.
What do you think believe white people have no culture? We have the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this culture that has dominated all other cultures – as a matter of fact that a central theme of our culture. Everywhere has culture. People from places where cultures are older struggle to understand the culture of immigration counties because it isn’t neatly defined, so they say those countries don’t have culture. Well, we kind of don’t. The only “culture” revolves around what stuff you can buy. My great grandfather was Czech. My grandma grew up with traditional dances and cultural activities. I’ve never experienced any of them. I’ve tried to create traditions but without community participation, they are unlikely to continue. It affects every ethnic group, I think. It’s sad bc I think we’ve lost something good. Ok I’m really sorry but it’s so fuckin funny how youre all out here claiming youre irish English Scottish from 6 damn generations ago but when someone says you don’t have a unique culture suddenly you manage to claim speaking English and eating red meat as uniquely American pmslllllll
Then, when white Americans want to see where in Europe their ancestors were from, they get ridiculed for that by Europeans. What is American culture? I guess we’ve got the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this California style rock ‘n’ rolling surfer type, we’ve got Cowboys, we’ve got highly educated aficionados of art and fine foods in the north east, there’s African-American influences dirty white Floridians giving all of us a bad name, rednecks and hillbillies… What else? I’m not sure what exactly American culture is. All of it? I am white, I just leach of the cultures around me. What culture we do I have I fucking despise. We have a holiday that’s all about a feast and the food is turkey mashed potatoes and soggy casseroles. I know other Americans eat their ethnicities food and I’d much rather do that. White people have plenty of culture. You’re not seeing it. My Wife is Irish-American and they lay culture out like crazy. Irish mythology is pretty awesome so is St. Patrick’s day, Step dance, awesome Gaelic music, Language. I mean even their names have spread all over the world.
As a cuban/Mexican/American, I do love me some good ol’ white people comfort food. Biscuits and gravy, meatloaf and mashed potato, burger and fries, and occasionally some Wendy’s drive thru I know this is a food reference but food is part of culture mmmkay My understanding is that the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this idea that white people have no culture exists because “white” is an arbitrary physical characteristic with no defining culture associated with it, and many white Americans don’t do anything to keep their actual hereditary cultures (English, German, Irish, etc.) alive. And it’s not something that was forced on us, the way Black Americans had their heritage stolen from them, but something we seemingly gave up voluntarily in favor of “assimilation.”
That being said, the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this idea that a culture being a melting pot equates to being devoid of culture is a fallacy in itself. The way all these disparate influences blend together gives us a unique culture to ourselves. Talk to any foreigner in America and they will tell you the ways we’re different from their own home or places they’ve been. American culture is real and it’s strong. There’s just no such thing as “white” culture because whiteness alone doesn’t have universal characteristics or experiences specific to the group of people under that umbrella. America is a melting pot. It is rare that anyone can experience a purely white, black, Asian variation without also being influenced by other aspects. Most of our perspective regarding other cultures are based on stereotypes & generalities, and not reality.
There is no white culture. There is German culture Scottish, Irish, Ukraine, Czech, Italian, French etc culture. That was all brought here by people’s ancestors. But there is no such thing as white culture. Even colonialism spans across other races. I don’t think most people do, just some people that are very confident due to their own ignorance, and they tend to be overrepresented in algorithms because it’s stupid and worth correcting. Southern culture, west coast culture, Coastal elite culture, and New York city culture are all very well understood concepts, and very different from each other. Besides, the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this United States is only 250ish years old. Ask an Italian American about their “culture”, I’ll bet they describe being Italian more than being American.
white culture is a kind of weird term, because white american culture borrows heavily from other culture but also varies so much throughout the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this nation, so it isnt really ubiquitous in many ways what we today call “white american culture” is WASP culture from the early 20th century that got packaged in lifestyle magazines and sold to non WASPs, which got many americans to abandon their european cultural heritage in much of the nation but even so, I think its wrong to think of a singular white american culture, because it does change a lot regionally. Do white californians and white new yorkers, born and raised, share a culture beyond the big things what would also apply to non white people? I think a lot of white Americans have lost most if not all of their cultural and/or religious ties to their homelands, and that is what people are referring to.
It’s because white people is not a culture. There are various cultures in that grouping, but the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this grouping itself didn’t come with cultural additions. It was just a way for them, initially, to separate poc. When one cultural group didn’t have enough power to do so they joined hands under this banner. That’s it. What? Of course white america has a culture. When you are in a culture and part of it, it can be hard to notice its features. It basically forms the background and foundation. You habituate and don’t notice. Like the hum of a light soon fades and you filter it out. Or the smell of cat urine does not get noticed by the cst lover in the house. They don’t because white isn’t a thing. You might be British, Irish, Scottish, French, Swedish, Norwegian, whatever people with white skin usually are, and I think you’d agree that they do have a culture, but it isn’t, or shouldn’t be, defined by having white skin. Americans culture is that they have a mix out of everything imported and mashed it together. It’s the great experiment after all. And that makes it unique. One thing that I would like America to stop is the fastfood and drug epidemic. And the shadow governments. Not wanna get political tho
Culture is more heavily tied up with ethnicity and a shared tradition, than to a race. For example, NYC has plenty of Italian-Americans but the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this further removed from the first generation, the more of the culture they lose, starting with the language. Because white Americans tend to act that way. When you’re a dominant culture you don’t tend to think of things as cultural but just “how things should be.” Whether that be dress, manners, religion, relationships, entertainment, or employment. Of course the irony is when you don’t view their own culture as a series of choices, but just “the right way to do things” you basically lose your culture. It causes bigotry too–because if your way is the right way than everybody else has to be either wrong or stupid. There are things that you could consider white american culture, but none if it sticks. Like it is just there for some time and then disappears.
Obviously the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this big standout is “Hollywood” writ large but that has more to do with white people being the hegemon with access to capital. The problem is that all of those things emerged from black culture. BBQ became a thing because thats about the only way to prepare off cuts and make them palatable without access to kitchen appliances. Country music is obviously an extension of blues and other black roots music and apple pie predates modern cultivating that actually makes them palatable. Apples were for cider and animal feed and to feed to slaves. So drowning it in sugar and baking the hell out of it it again one of the few ways to make it palatable. I am hard pressed to find one example of “american white” culture that wasn’t actually birthed by african American culture. My favorite example is country music. I can draw a direct line from a bunch of zooted up whites in chicago in 79 who went about destroying disco because it was to “black and permissive” right to today where you cannot find a country song of any notoriety not absolutely jam packed of black idioms, melodically, harmonically and rhythm wise.
Is there such a thing as white Americans? Racially there are only arbitrarily four agreed races according to the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this U.S. census. They added more the last couple of years but it used to be black, white, Asian, and native. Are Mexicans therefore white? What about Japanese? White has no culture because white doesn’t have an ethnicity. American culture is one thing. And even Black Americans have a culture because they are their own group. White Americans isn’t a thing. As much as people hate hearing these terms a lot of it comes down to minorities and white privilege. White people are the majority of the US. They are “default” America. Anything that is different from that baseline is the thing that appears unique, which is why we hear about black culture, Asian culture, et cetera, but not white culture. At various points throughout American history non white people were repressed and not really allowed to participate in American culture. This forced people into their own enclaves, both metaphorically and often literally. Hell, even the definition of what white means has evolved over time. Irish and Italian people were once not considered real whites. Same with Jewish people despite the fact that most Jews in America are mostly ethnically European. It is still debated. Some people believe hispanic people are white and some don’t.
The idea of race as a black, white, or brown kind of thing is absolutely a social construct in the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this first place. It was only ever used to categorize people into separate groups. Maybe a better way of saying all of this is to say that the reason non-white peoples in the US have their own unique cultures in the US whereas white people don’t is because for most of America’s existence, non-white people were not allowed to share in American culture with white people. They were forced to develop their own, and it is defined by how it is different. Because white is not an ethnicity. The reason you can say black culture though, is because black Americans aren’t African or from any other place, but created a culture. An easier way of doing this is, “what are they known for?” Mind draws a blank on anything positive when thinking of white Americans, but black Americans, “all sorts of music came from them, dances, soul food, a whole dialect” this is how I see it.
Well, compared to other majority white nations in Europe, America, Canada and Australia have a severe lack of culture when it comes to Whites people need to learn the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this term “Anglo American” cause this conversation is always way too preoccupied by the race implication Note that you didn’t say Italian Americans or French Americans. You said white. Therein lies a big problem. White is not a culture. It’s basically consigning culture to the bin for wider general acceptance among others who may not appreciate your individual heritage. America really doesn’t have a culture… Except maybe for a fanatical obsession with guns and hating people who don’t look like you. Well, everyone has culture. I observe a unique culture in white Americans and it also varies across different groups and regions but, generally speaking, I find a lot of things boring with some of the culture I see in the Los Angeles area. But, maybe it’s just with rich white Americans as I remember my white friends growing up being different so take this with a grain of salt.
I’m Mexican American and my family preserved a lot of the Cat bro’s got those new Glasses but still can’t read a room shirt But I will love this culture. My girlfriend is American, mostly of Irish and German descent, but they do not hold onto any of those traditions from their ancestors. Major differences between our families is that in my family there’s always something going on on weekends, music, dancing, family get togethers, the more the merrier, and we have an ease making friends. In her family, although they value family to some degree, they tend to keep to themselves even though they’re extroverts and the idea of bringing random people to a get together scares them. Holiday celebrations are about the kids and being indoors often watching a classic movie. Can’t take roasting like we do at our family and their sense of fashion is limited. I seem to have more in common with Italians.
