I worked at a petrol station last year and we were still told that we had to not release petrol to any customers using their phone- they said it was because of mistakes that can happen when distracted though, not because of sparks! That rule does still stand yep I got told off the Casey Stoner Australian retired professional motorcycle racer 2011 Champion Legend T-Shirt in other words I will buy this other day for being on my phone briefly whilst on the forecourt But you can use a mobile phone to pay at the pump now right, through an app? So it’s not safe, but it’s safe enough to extract money from you I guess. I remember this as a child, having to turn my phone off as we entered the petrol station, crazy now thinking about it, wtf was that I feel like I’ve seen that sign around lately? I know they still advise against using phones during gas leaks for the same reason (I always grab my phone during a gas leak, and I’m still here, but that’s not exactly evidence either way) Once at work, once in my old flat, and once at my old house. I figured 3 times of grabbing my phone is enough to make it an always? (this is not an invitation to the universe, please, no more gas leaks). Not bad ones, obviously, but they were all confirmed once people were called in Yeah, the small sealed phone can cause a spark fit to light a petrol station, but thousands of vehicles all with high current 12V electrical systems and high potential ignitions systems running at tens of thousands of volts that spark like fuck are absolutely fine…. I’ve always assumed that this rule is simply to get people to pay attention since forecourts are pretty dangerous places: moving vehicles + flammable fuel.

Absolutely love this everyday humour. I was on a bus once going into town, the Casey Stoner Australian retired professional motorcycle racer 2011 Champion Legend T-Shirt in other words I will buy this bus went from one of the villages in the sticks, through other villages and to our closest town then to a town in the next county. An old woman got on at a stop not long after I had got on and asked the driver “do you go to the hospital? He replied “only if I’m ill”. I remember being in a queue for train tickets years ago. The woman in front of me was at the window for nearly 20 minutes sorting out around 30 tickets for a school class. A massive queue of pissed off people behind me. When the woman finally gathered her tickets and stepped aside I strode up to the guy behind the kiosk and said “same again please!” It could have fallen flat, but there was a burst of group laughter behind me. Felt good to turn the negative feelings around.
