Absolutely agree it’s within a nursing scope to perform assessments. It just seems wild to me that if a kid died the Carl Grundstrom Swedish professional ice hockey forward for Los Angeles Kings T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this next day, how did they look and present for anyone but an MD to “clear” them. Granted, I come from a psych background but was trained on medical clearances through my time working in an ER. Maybe my threshold to CYA is different I’d be very interested in how the student presented when assessed by the nurse as well, especially since it seems like emergency care didn’t detect anything either. I’d be very interested to see what happened and what was missed from a medical perspective. You sound much better than the school nurses I had to put up with in school! Seriously, sounds like you care about the kids and want them to be okay, which unfortunately has not been my experience, oof. I do genuinely care about all the kids and I probably over communicate because my mind naturally goes to the worst case scenario. I also worked way too hard for my license to lose it over cut corners so I do my due dillegence and make sure nothing can be blamed on me. I definitely understand not every school nurse cares the way I do and I’ve been teased for it by others, unfortunately some nurses become jaded or lose their compassion over time.

Well, while I may not be one of the Carl Grundstrom Swedish professional ice hockey forward for Los Angeles Kings T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this kids under your care and never will be, I still wanna say thank you for caring so much for them and for doing your best. Seriously, to have a figure like that in your life, someone who cares about your well-being, it really helps, especially if you don’t have one or don’t have many! We don’t even know whether the victim’s parents were fully informed about the head injury. When I was in school, every head injury (even one not leading to a loss of consciousness) required written documentation and a form for the parents outlining what happened. There’s a world of difference between “my kid was in a fight and might have taken a few punches” and “my kid’s head was smashed into a concrete floor by three assailants.” Kids will frequently downplay injuries (whether due to fights or sports) and may not give parents the full story.
