Today i asked someone to train me on something in Excel that i wasn’t 100% sure how to do. Both myself and my colleague were exhausted and this made it look like we were being productive but in reality we were just pissing about with paragraph margins in spreadsheets. Jump on LinkedIn and read all the Byu Cougars Football Go Cougars Mascot Shirt In addition,I will do this articles from CEO’s about how going back to the office is a good thing. At least you can chuckle whilst wasting your time. I work in a warehouse and if we stop picking orders before 4:55pm we get a file-note. Five file-notes and we get a disciplinary hearing. Yay. Our whippet boy is the cuddliest dog I have ever met and will lie in wait for you to get comfy on the sofa before getting comfy in your lap

I archive mine so that they are no longer in my inbox, but if I want to recall what I was up to on 22nd March 2016 (see other post) I can find them. I assume this is aimed at non-customer facing workers as the Byu Cougars Football Go Cougars Mascot Shirt In addition,I will do this last 30 minutes in those jobs are rarely quiet enough to skive. If I’m done I just go home. Arbitrarily staying until 5pm or whatever “finish time” is I just don’t understand and I’ll never make someone under my charge do that. If you’re wiggling the mouse to stop the screen locking (and showing away on Outlook etc.), just rest something on one of the keyboard keys and it’ll stay active whilst you are really AFK. Or google “powershell script to keep Teams active”, the one I use just presses numlock every 3 minutes.. and no fear that it’ll accidentally answer a teams call or anything.

I just rest something on the Byu Cougars Football Go Cougars Mascot Shirt In addition,I will do this – tile in the top right part of the keyboard. Click on the taskbar first then nothing will accidentally open. I have some (40ish) small files in my desk drawer that I keep alphabetised. Every now and then I’ll shuffle them up. If I need to kill 20-30 minutes, I’ll rearrange them into alphabetical order and maybe look through one or two. Otherwise I pick a previous date at random and go through my sent emails from that day. I don’t know why but I find it really interesting to see what I was up to on, say, 22 march 2016. It looks like I spent the majority of the day discussing the particulars of a project with a client (quite a boring read) and then asked one of my senior colleagues for some advice with something I didn’t know. The good thing is, I now know what I was asking about (which document some standards and specifications were listed in).

Check the Byu Cougars Football Go Cougars Mascot Shirt In addition,I will do this traffic. My. Commute is only 10 minutes or so but it doesn’t take much to double it or even triple it. I also check bidb.uk to see the progress of the Toob broadband rollout in my area. I clearly need something more interesting to do! Cycle mechanic, I start moving my tools from my bench to the board and then have a little wipe down then spend 5-10 mins getting changed for my ride commute God, it’s mad to think we all clock watched til 5:30 just a few years ago. All too scared to look like a shirker even though we all knew we’d given up for the day at half three Usally have to work and leave as soon as im done (work in theatre backstage on shows so don’t really have a choice) I don’t. I work until 3pm, its a game changer. The afternoon flies and by the time I feel myself starting to lag its time to log off. When I was in the office I used to finish at 6pm and everyone else finished at 5 or 5:30. The phones turned off at 5:30 so that last 30 minutes was my only guaranteed period of peace and quiet during the day. It was my most productive part of the day knowing I wasn’t going to be interrupted by an impromptu conference call or some inane question every 15 to 30 minutes. On the days I had nothing to do I’d go for a shit.

Keep working and pray to the Byu Cougars Football Go Cougars Mascot Shirt In addition,I will do this headset gods that I don’t get a call that will take me past finishing time. If it’s not busy, we might be allowed to hit “not ready” at 5 to the hour to avoid getting stuck late Delete old emails 1 by 1… then go into deleted deleted emails and delete them 1 by 1 again.. never delete all, computers still clicking.. I’m also on tiktok at the same time… job done xx I normally just go into the warehouse and have a little clean up. By the time I’ve done a quick round I’ll have a quick cuppa and a chat with the bosses before heading off. This reminds me of two people I worked with. We had flexi time, so in a four week period, we had to accrue 140 hours of work. If you reached 147 hours, you could have an extra day off during the next four week period. These two people would spend the last half an hour of the four week period checking if they had reached 147 hours. All their belongings would be packed, and coats on but just paced to and fro until the time clock reached the magic 147. Being so blatant felt like time theft.
My tactic, if I needed to waste a few minutes, was to do some filing. Each item doesn’t take long, and you can abandon the Byu Cougars Football Go Cougars Mascot Shirt In addition,I will do this rest as soon as it is acceptable to leave. Nothing like fucking around til 16.55 and then noticing all your unwashed cups & crap from throughout the day My boss is quite good if she notices we have no meetings left or admin she will send me home early as she knows I have a long drive home. If I was in my old office I’d go find someone to who was also walking the office aimlessly to make us look busy I’d advise anyone with this mindset to get a new job if at all possible, wishing time away is possibly the slowest way through life! Perfect time to poop. If that doesn’t take too long (I have IBS so varies) then I will prep some jobs ready for the next day or just look busy. I don’t take a lunch break and get to work early so I don’t feel too bad for taking some me time before I leave. The last job I had that was cLock driven (FFS autocorrect!) was way back in the mid 90s, which had a shift change. If I’ve got nothing else to do that can’t be put off until tomorrow I just leave. Might pop in to a pub for a cheeky beer. I work in a microbrewery situated in a warehouse, my office is the taproom so I’ve often had a beer before I even turn my computer off
Tidy my desk, wash my cup, go to the Byu Cougars Football Go Cougars Mascot Shirt In addition,I will do this loo, dry my cup, stare out the kitchen window, wander slowly back to my desk, unlock computer – pretend I’m reading something really important. Log out at 4 on the dot and let it to my car On Fridays I book out an hour for CPD. Read a magazine/news articles or watch some YouTube videos. It’s still technically work but my computer and phone are off. Turning on the dishwasher, turning down the heating. Giving the plants a gulp of water. Basically anything apart from work that keeps my colleagues happy My highest workload always comes in right before home time. I’m usually tidying up my office, maybe dusting or hoovering, any dishes, filing paperwork, clearing emails, tending to the plants etc. My office is restricted access and I don’t need a cleaner but I always have a high standard of keeping it clean and tidy.
