Some of them just get really out of hand, sadly, because people power trip. Or, people who live there even want it. The people I know who live in the area with the crazy AF HOA actually like it! “It keeps the area looking nice.” To me, all exactly alike isn’t nice, but we all have different tastes. They think my area looks messy. It doesn’t. It’s all well kept custom homes with custom landscaping. They kind of have a theme, “natural”, but no two yards look alike. Fences and mailboxes generally don’t – they fit with the house. Bushes and trees aren’t pruned into blocks and lollipops, for the most part, and we still have a ravine and hillside covered in native forest. That’s my idea of nice.
