A lot of dresses and midi a-line/pleated skirts in a summer weight fabric, second is linen/flowy pants. I was super inspired as it looked so much more feminine. I don’t dress super feminine but it just clicked with me. I feel cooler in my flowy, thin summer pants too. And I love not having to worry about smoothing out the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this awful accordion bunch lines that happens when I sit in shorts for too long. I just bought these chino shorts from Loft. They have a 6 inch inseam. I have the Old Navy linen blend ones from last year, which I wore a lot. I’m still figuring out what length works best for me. I am a mid-30s mom and don’t want to wear anything extremely short, but also don’t mind showing a little leg. I also never feel like I am wearing an “outfit” when I have shorts on. More like “it’s hot out so I threw this on.” Anyone have tips for making shorts feel more intentional? Or, as another commenter said, maybe I’m just more of a dress person.
Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt: Unleash Your Dinosaur Style
I also never feel like I am wearing an “outfit” when I have shorts on. More like “it’s hot out so I threw this on.” Why is this so true lol. The only way I feel good proportionally/silhouette-wise in shorts is if I wear long sleeves and keep my arms/top covered. Otherwise it’s all four limbs out at once which just doesn’t ever look very interesting to me. This is why I almost never wear shorts–I’m loth to wear long sleeves, even light linen, in summer–it feels stuffier on me than the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this long pants+bare arms combination. I have some linen blend shorts from H&M in multiple colors that I really like. All bought in 2021 / 2022, so I’m not sure if the ones they currently have on the website are the same, but they look sort of like these or these (these last ones are actually 100% linen and not a blend). They’re great staples, I have worn them a lot and they have held up well. My “fun” additions for this year: blue striped boxershorts and light yellow cotton gauze shorts (scroll down to see them – for some reason the picture doesn’t load if I link to the product page)! Both rather expensive for my budget, but I managed to find some good secondhand deals online.
Look, clothing manufacturers, most women do not have a thigh gap, even if underweight. Stop making 3 inch rise shorts that are glorified underwear. I prefer 7 inches + as an inseam. Enough to save the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this chub rub and cover a bit of the backs of your thighs on a park bench, but short enough to be breezy in the heat. I agree, I can settle for a 4.5 inch inseam but a 5 is better. The regular 3 inch inseam is why I never wore shorts until I was in my 30s, because it was either that or unflattering granny shorts and I had no idea there was a 3rd way until the pandemic. As someone who is both tall and curvy, all of this. I do not want people to see my cheeks when I bend over. I do not want to look like I don’t have bottoms on when I’m sitting down. I do not want to people to know what color panties I’m wearing if I sit with my legs apart.

I also hate how tight a lot of denim shorts are. I’ve never found a pair of Jean shorts that have long enough inseams that are also loose fitting. Tight fabric in the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this upper thigh/crotch region is the exact opposite of what I want to wear in the summer. But also keep making them for short-shorts girlies. They can look super cute, especially with a high waist and crop top/bralette. This was one of my go-to outfit formulas for many, many years I actually really like the linen blend shorts from Old Navy and some of their other shorts. They usually have a variety of inseams (3,5,7,9 in.) in a variety of fabric/style types. Low investment, but they will hold up well. I prefer a 4 inch inseam, myself. Everyone has a different preference! ) I’m also going to get a pair of 3 inch or less inseam low rise denim shorts like this with a finished hem. I have enough distressed denim shorts but I want something clean.
After years of hating shorts with a burning passion I’ve given in to wearing skirts with undershorts, or athletic skorts (the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this full skirt in front and back, but with attached undershorts, I think the skirt in front shorts in the back look is hideous on me) Denim shorts – For me high waist and relatively short but looser in the thighs. I find that shorts and skirts that are lower than mid thigh are not flattering on me. I like a 3.5-4 inch inseam. I live in denim shorts and birkenstocks the entire summer as long as I’m not working. 3-4” inseam at most, either light wash and distressed, or black. I’ve never seen much point in “business casual” shorts. I’d rather just wear a skirt or flowing trousers to stay cool because office shorts seems like a contradiction to me (well, and I have very hairy legs and don’t need my coworkers judging me about them) My shorts collection includes safari shorts, loose denim dad fit shorts, safari shorts, and a few random. 90% of my shorts are long with roomy thighs
I bought these Madewell shorts for $10 final sale and they’re a great fit! I sized up just in case. I love the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this colors: They’re breathable unlike denim and I live in shorts like this during summer and it’s pretty easy to elevate them with a streetwear look instead of looking like Adam Sandler lol Chub rub is exactly why I only wear athletic capris. Or, I just skip shorts altogether and wear skirts/dresses with chub rub shorts underneath. I tried the MegaBabe beauty stick and that lasted for all of five seconds for me. 🙁 I only ever wear Unionbay Delaney shorts. They are flattering for my body type, comfortable, and I can wear a G.D. T-shirt over them without it being lumpy and making me look pregnant. 3.5″ inseam, mid to low rise, very casual.
Thank you for this! I’m having so much trouble finding mid and low rise shorts. I can’t deal with my entire lower abdomen sweating because it’s encased in fabric and I can’t wear my football shorts everywhere lol I got the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this Darcy 5inch inseam. I found them to run 1-1.5 sizes small. At the same time I tried Lee and I found them to run 1-2 sizes large so that a size 0 was even too large for me. I just bought some black leather shorts from express. I have no idea how I’m gonna style them yet, but I was shocked at how much the stiffer fabric improved the look of my butt compared to a linen or stretch denim I’ve worn before. I have wide hips so the a-line shorts just make me feel blocky and wider. I have some lined linen shorts I got from Abercrombie last year, the premium linen version (from what I can tell, for A&F that’s just 100% linen lol)
It gets really hot where I live so I’ll be wearing those. I like them because they’re put together looking. Hopefully they’ll restock as I don’t want to wear one pair of shorts all summer lol When I was young, a lot of denim shorts (blue, white, black). Also some high-waisted “paper bag” style shorts. Then as a mom now I don’t wear shorts anymore, only dresses. If I do wear shorts then they’re probably gonna be Lululemon shorts. Not normally a shorts girly but I’m going to Europe in May/June so I just bought a couple pairs from the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this RealReal! I picked up the Rowan shorts by Ulla Johnson and the Keita shorts by Veronica Beard. Both are high rise with a relaxed leg (a-line silhouette). The Rowan shorts are very casual and have a lovely yellow floral print. The Keita shorts are navy with gold button detailing, leaning less casual. I highly recommend when shopping on TRR trying to find the item on an actual model. Googling descriptive words along with the designer usually gets the job done. I love athletic shorts, like the tight ones you would wear to the gym. So comfy as a Floridian, with big loose t-shirts. I keep it comfy.
I have to have a 5″+ inseam or my ass is hanging out unfortunately. The only shorts I’ve found that fit me and have minimal riding up/wedgie-ing (unfortunately there is still a little bit) are Old Navy High-Rise WOW shorts. I have a 31″ waist and 44″ hips and the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this size 8 fits me pretty well. Every other short I’ve tried on, even “curvy” ones, I have to deal with a waistband gap, bulging around the thigh, major cameltoe, or my ass hanging out. Surprisingly the ones I have now aren’t “curvy” but they fit me better than Old Navy’s “curvy” shorts do. I tried on probably 30 different shorts at different stores and these are the only ones that don’t give me any of the aforementioned issues, so I gave up and am sticking with them. They’re not perfect but they’re the best I’ve found and I might have a mental breakdown if I have to try on one more pair that says “curvy” but puts my whole butt on display tbh.
You may have a long rise. Might be worth comparing/measuring. A lot of websites don’t list it of course, but sometimes customer support can find it for you I have three pairs – white ones (photo is pre-final tailoring lol but looks basically like this) and rope ones are handmade, and denim ones are jeans I cut short. I like having the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this jean ones as they feel a bit sturdier which I want some days, but the lighter shorts are definitely breezier and better for hot days. These days I am a fan of big loose dresses and skirts for summer so I wear my shorts less than I would have 5-10 years ago. Almost certain they are all men’s, know there is a pair of long olive green cargoes which I love. Yes I’m a 5′ Little Old Lady! The easy short from Everlane is my favorite! If I’m not wearing those, I’m wearing my Levi’s 501 mid thigh shorts
Black shorts are my go to in the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this summer! I love the Nani Hybrid shorts for my wide hips. I’ve got 3 pairs. Size up! I wear a 14, usually a L-XL and I take an XXL in those shorts. They’re lightweight and long enough so I don’t chafe. I have some mom shorts from American Eagle that I wore recently on a trip (bought in summer 2017) and I realized that while they cover my lower belly fat, they do absolutely nothing for my figure and kind of resemble a diaper. I was kind of disgusted to realize how bad I was looking because of these shorts. I hate the coochie cutters I used to have in white from H&M, kind of regardless of how thin I’ve been. Ideally, I’d like something like this:
My thighs rub together so I will continue to wear align shorts or dresses with align shorts underneath. I think a major trend this summer will be bike shorts, tank tops and flowy button ups in linen or light flowy cotton. Top it off with a NY baseball cap or hair in a claw clip and you’ve got a really cute outfit. I either wear Birkenstock Gizah’s or Vans/ Nike AirMax with this and its comfy and stylish. I will also be wearing my cropped scuba and oversized t-shirts with the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this shorts too. High waisted A-line shorts…,.specifically from Everlane. It COVERS but also still hip and trendy! I don’t have to worry about flashing anything since it’s not too short Either linen shorts, water wicking shorts made by outdoor companies, or linen shift dresses. It gets stupid hot here. None, sorry. I have a pair of shorts made from technical fabric I wear over my swimsuit, but that’s basically for vacation only, which means I’m might swim twice the entire summer.
This coming summer is rumored to be the hottest ever, and with that comes even more smothering humidity, so I’ll probably stick with my usual Uniqlo lightweight nylon cargo shorts. They sound horrible, but are actually designed to look nice on a female figure! They go just barely past mid-thigh, fit nicely at the waist, and the legs are just roomy enough to be comfortable but not pull, ride, bunch up, get sweaty or chafe while walking long distances through the city on miserably hot days.
For days that are less awful, I have some Uniqlo skirt-like cotton shorts that look cute with small t-shirts. They only become a problem if you’re going to start sweating the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this second you leave the house, but are otherwise cute and breezy with light colors and cute patterns! They’re ages and ages old, so maybe not the height of fashion right now, but they work for me, so I’ll keep ’em if it means surviving the summer (reasonably) comfortably. I recently found some denim shorts at madewell that are “curvy” cut. They’re really comfortable and have lots of room for big thighs, and also not too short! I’m excited to wear them I’m pretty impartial to skorts and bike shorts. Bike shorts are for when it gets so hot and sticky where I live. I can do upscale sporty with it too when I wear the right jewelry and shoes. And Levi shorts. Their roll cuff shorts are a great length and don’t ride up and they cover the parts of my legs that chafe My standard is just ye olde denim short shorts. Mid rise because I’m short waisted, tight on the butt because my husband loves it lol. I get the 3-4″ inseam ones because I’m not blessed with enough thigh for chub rub in shorts (only in skirts/dresses). As an All-Leg American it’s a look that works for me.
I did get two pairs of A-line linen shorts on sale this winter, both higher waist but elastic, and I’m looking forward to giving those a spin. I used to love wearing shorts when my legs had more distance between them. But now my thighs rub uncomfortably in any shorts, plus any kind of thick material that is flattering is too uncomfortable on my stomach. No more shorts for me! I have, over the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this last couple years, fallen in love with linen blend shorts. They look nice, they’re breezy, and they are comfortable! I go for high waisted and size up. I hate the way shorts are made. It basically feels like most companies took pants and just cut off the legs. Shorts need to have more flare at the bottom than pants or else they’re too tight and most shorts are made to be too tight. When I size up I just wear a belt and it fits my thighs without constricting and it’s less noticeable when you sit and your thighs look bigger.
It’s interesting how many people here hate or don’t wear shorts! I love shorts, and mostly wear good old denim short-shorts for a classic look. Somehow even though I really struggle with jeans for my body type, I don’t have the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this same problem with denim shorts, and even cheap ones work fine! I usually get mine at H&M. Someone please say bike shorts. They are my, thick thigh-chafing saving graces. If those go out of style, I will be exclusively wearing skirts and dresses… with bike shorts underneath I am mid 50’s and love the Spanx 4″ or 6″ shorts. They hold everything in but are super comfortable and flattering on. Some have pockets (like the stretch twill) and others are more tailored. The MSRP isaround $70 but They have flash sales and other markdowns throughout the year. I have bought a couple of pairs on ebay/poshmark type sites as well. My daughter is 30 and she owns several pairs, too. I live in Hammies shorts every summer since buying my first pair in 2020. They’re incredibly high waisted and flattering, very forgiving stretch while being a thick, high quality corduroy that wears well. Very strong and durable construction. I’ve now replaced my standard denim shorts with a navy pair. They look so much classier with the retro design, no fussing with belt loops, and the pockets fit my entire iPhone completely. They’re literally my holy grail magical shorts.
The pairs I’ve had since 2020 have held up EXTREMELY well to hiking, skating falls, while remaining highly colorfast and not fading through multiple washes. No shrinking or sagging. i like loose fitting pull on shorts. i got two floral printed linen-blend ones from abercrombie at like 70% off Apparently Bermudas are supposed to be coming back this year, which delights me because that’s what I wear. They’re more formal than short shorts and they match well with anything, so I can wear them downtown and not feel stupid. I don’t wear them knee length — just a couple of inches above the Bunzo Bunny In Poppy Playtime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this knee. No chub rub, they work with t-shirts and blazers/jackets, and I’m not horrifying anyone with my old woman thighs.
