In that story the Briston Maroney Let’s Go Honey shirt but in fact I love this blame for widespread political chaos was blamed on the power-hungry eunuch faction who plotted to place a pliable child emperor on the throne who they can use as a puppet. This plan was foiled by the eunuch’s chief rival General He Jin who managed to place his chosen child emperor on the throne instead. This eventually led to the eunuchs trying to assassinate He Jin and He Jin massacring the eunuchs instead. Eventually this led to the rise of the warlord faction which led to the creation of the Three Kingdoms. The moral of that story in the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms is that if eunuchs hadn’t been so corrupt and dishonest then the Eastern Han wouldn’t have degenerated to the point where warlords can just do away with imperial government altogether and carve out their own kingdoms.

Briston Maroney Let’s Go Honey shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

This is just one example of how eunuchs have a bad rep in Chinese history. During the Briston Maroney Let’s Go Honey shirt but in fact I love this Qing Dynasty the chief eunuch An Dehai is often cast as a villain for his support of the Empress Dowager Cixi and the way he helped her install child emperors who she can easily control as puppets. Some biographers speculate that An and Cixi were lovers, although An did have a wife. What is fascinating that starting in the Mint dynasty it became a trend for officials to marry their daughters to eunuchs because of their powerful positions in court despite their lack of genitalia. There’s actually an established pattern of concubines, which was what Cixi was, becoming lovers with eunuchs and sometimes even entering a kind of recognized marriage with them called caihu. Eunuchs can’t impregnate concubines but they managed to have sex and sometimes the concubines slept with each other.
