If white Americans don’t have a culture then I am suddenly confused by a lot of jokes about white Americans told by POC comedians… Whiskey? Irish. Pizza? Italians. Beer? Germans. Hamburgers? Germans. Fried chicken? Irish. Vodka? Eastern Europeans. Fraternities? Greek. I believe it’s because “white” people are so varied just like others from other ethnic groups that it doesn’t matter. These are the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this cultures that I identify with and associate myself with: bay area native, sf/east bay punk and raver/club scenes, video game/RPG/d&d culture, liberal/progressive values, bay area educators. I would also argue that if it’s “American” culture, it’s inherently for all Americans regardless of skin color. If there is a “white” culture it probably comes from a Norwegian country where they are more homogenous
Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt: Perfect for Fans
This is a strange CMV. “white” people don’t have a culture as there are so many varied, different nationalities that are “white”. Swiss culture is vastly different from Greek culture which is very different from Australian culture and so on. Whatever accent you have is 100% normal to you. Your culture is normal to you, other culture’s stand out because they are different. because white isnt a culture. the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this only reason we say things like “black culture” is bc most of us do not have any documented history gojng back to Africa because of slavery. Theres italian american culture, irish american culture, german american culture, etc. But white is not a culture. I agree. We definitely have a culture. Everyone does. And I’d say more than anything, the type of culture is less race based and more demographic and class-based.
The people who say that tend to either be people with limited exposure to Americans, or Americans who have rarely travelled elsewhere. We do have a culture and it’s largely based on European mores and norms. We share a lot with our European friends and allies, particularly Great Britain, but there are differences. We’re louder, fatter 🫢 yet oddly enough more polite and friendly than most Europeans. And we’re a rambunctious lot. After WWII A German general is believed to have said, “The reason the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this American Army does so well in wartime, is that war is chaos, and the American Army practices it on a daily basis”. But much of this is being a young country. In Great Britain they would talk about history and point to Windsor Castle first built in 1070. We would point to the Henry Whitfield House in Guilford, CT built in 1639 Every group has culture. Americans can BE uncultured in their ignorance, but white Americans being white Americans is their culture. You don’t know your culture when your submerged in it every day.
Some information about Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt
Short answer: America is a young country. In early days, Europeans who first moved here tend to abandon their life behind and started a new life. Hence the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this name “New World”. Some of them were also puritans in nature, so all their cultural heritage were left behind. Last names were changed. Some celebrations were forgotten. To wit, are you going to claim that new citizens who emigrated from Ghana, Haiti, or Guyana have the same culture as Americans Blacks because they all happen to have similarly colored skin? Or how about those 4th generation descendants of those Japanese immigrants (i.e., the ones that the US detained in ‘internment camps during WWII) and newly naturalized citizens from other Asian countries like India, Turkey, or Uzbekistan? Just because they’re all “American Asians” doesn’t mean they share the same culture. Or how about Americans with Mexican heritage who have been living along the Border for generations vs citizens from Puerto Rico? Or heck Cuba? Again, just because they all happen to speak Spanish doesn’t mean they share the same culture.
I’m Asian, maybe if u wanna be a super hardcore social science nerd the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this demographic of “white people” don’t have a culture being so hard to define but besides that who cares stop listening to racist assmad nerds try to justify stupid shit against the white majority population. The honest answer is they say this cause they don’t like white people for whatever reason it’s insanely cringe nobody irl acts or believes this garbage just be respectful to everyone holy shit it’s a psyop to make people not love themselves and their people. if we had no culture, the world wouldn’t be trying to move here and live off our largesse [i’m aware money isn’t the same as culture but…] it’s an amalgamation of European cultures blended w/ the Indian longhouse idea of democracy. technically a republic but everyone is supposed to have a say, least in choice of leaders. we ended slavery around the world [Africa brought it back], we lead in many ways from music to technology. rock may have grown from the blues [blacks playing white instruments] but it surpassed it.
Usually to score points with other white people. It’s a sort of intercultural circle jerk for white liberals. The best part is they don’t even mean it, they just want to be seen saying it You might say black isn’t either, and while true the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this difference is black americans were stripped of their national culture when they were brought here. But they did blend some of their native culture into their lives and different cultures blended into an identifiable thing. They also have a shared history here (slavery, emancipation, Jim Crow, civil rights, etc) But nobody says white americans don’t have a culture, they just say it isn’t about being white. It’s about the nationality they have and where their ancestors came from. I have been called a pink child molester, a waste of space, a mass murderer, a member of nambla, and that I should “kill myself”.
American culture is corporate culture. Puritan, corporate culture. Wasp (white Anglo Saxon protastant) is the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this dominant culture that colonized north America, and it’s motto is that harder you work, the richer you get. The richer you get the closer to God you will be. The prostant work ethic evolved from hard work equals heavan to hard work equals money over time. And then televangelist took advantage of this idea, and pushed it to “you cna pay your way into heavan “ignoring the eye of a needle proverb from the Bible. And since it’s so conservative and manufactured it is void of humanity that many other cultures have developed over longer periods of time. Taking media psychogy in school, the rise of corporate culture happened more with marketing and advertising. The invention of the radio and the TV made it so all eyes and ears were being dominated by companies that took advantage of a population not willing to question the truth behind their statements and claims for products an services. And began to shape the culture into a consumeristic focused one that bought everything for convenience, pleasure and trendy fads. Even American football was created to include as many advertisements as possible, hence the nature of how American football is played. With lots of downtime for ads to be spoken, shown, and placed on the field. So much of US culture is what us consumers consume, and the influence of consumption is advertising.
Because the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this country is huge and we’re too diverse to have a common culture. Even just looking in my state (which is fairly white), we have huge differences by region. And that’s just people who are born here or other Americans. We also have tons of white immigrants from different places. The idea of a shared culture is ridiculous What is white American culture? Like, what kind of traditions, art, or literature do you consider to be white American? I’m total mutt generic white. My lower class Midwest family does not know where we are from. My lineage has German, English, Blackfoot, and Irish surnames. They’ve lived in the French colonized part of Indiana for 250+ yrs. We have no culture. Our food is beef and various derivations of wheat and butter. Spices are salt and pepper. The family trade is working until you die. No musical interests. No dancing. No heirlooms. No stories. Even religion is an afterthought, it’s just a vague assumed jesus Christian thing, floating between the nearest churches, coming/going due to gossip and politics between baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, church of god, Nazarene, and first Christian. We have no heritage, no culture, and no joy.
I left that place in 2001 for college and never considered returning for even the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this briefest moment. My white peoples at least, have no culture. I’m trying to develop traditions for my own kids, and embracing the joy of the cultures around me, but I have no community or identity. There is no “white culture” because there is no single culture that encompasses all “white” people. Even the definition of white has changed as it once did not include Jews, Italians, or several other cultures now lumped into white. In America, the default American culture is assumed to be of white or more accurately European origin. But that is often not an accurate assumption as American culture is a culture of assimilation. While American culture has many obvious ties to Europe, it is never a direct copy of any one place and varies dramatically within different regions. Claims that white Americans have no culture are a divisive tactic used to sew hatred and distrust amongst Americans.
It’s racism in its own to say that. If a white person said that about someone who isn’t white then it’ll be called what it is, so anyone saying that is what that is. The only people that say ‘white’ people don’t have culture are racist blacks, jews, and vapid liberal bloggers. The same people that claim whites don’t spice their food…while ignoring what set off the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this fucking age of exploration. Because it’s very homogenized and assumed to be the standard of culture, plus a lot of white Americans have had their ethnic identities erased/lost, so to the outsider viewing the culture there’s no real variation. Plus whiteness is arbitrary and mostly decided by appearance. Cultural identity is a lot more regionally based than racially.
There is one common thing. We love war, every state has a hand in the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this military complex voluntarily. We talk peace but in the end we are a war country. We produce war to sell war materials and services. War and military is so ingrained that we barely blink when you hear the branch recruiters go in high schools to sell the military to kids. From being hot and fit, to being rich and well off, and even selling education benefits. All this to try to hide the fact that it is a large government backed job that would have been accused of being a social service if it were anything else. For those who are not familiar to US. Yes it is no exaggeration. All branches of the military go to high schools and are allowed to groom 14-17 year olds and they social engineer it to make it sound like an exclusive club. It would be scummy if it werent so ingrained in our culture with glorification of war. And boy howdy do we love war as kids.
I was born in outback Australia, my wife is from Finland, we have vastly different backgrounds, but we’re technically both “white people” Americans have culture, but you’d have to be specific about what you mean by “white.” English-American? Irish-American German-American? Russian-American? Scottish-American? Sweish-American? Everyone on here defending the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this existence of white culture but not a single person describing what it actually is. Eh, only in a few regions, typically where there more recent European roots like Italian, Polish, and some Irish and almost everyone is the same. German, Norwegian, Swede, Scots-Irish, English, Dutch, these cultures have long since faded and there is no real celebration or acknowledgement. I guess there is for some, many of these folks turn to geneology to try to piece together their roots, because there isn’t any passed on. My boys are: german, norwegian, irish, scot, pole, slovak, ukrainian, swede, dutch, and english. One of my grandmothers still acknowledged her norwegian heritage, my boys are simply american. Because people are dumb. Especially the people who say the US has no culture when it’s literally a hodge podge of different cultures. Cause they want to dehumanize them so they can blame them for everything wrong in the world without think of them as people because upon immigrating to the US, europeans have largely had to shed their home culture and assimilate into the general american culture which is sort of an algamation of multiple western european cultures, as well as things they’ve taken from other cultures here, like native and black people. food is an example, with about 70% of the vegetables eaten here being domesticated and cultivated by indigenous people, and most of the rest being brought from africa during the slave trade.
this has also caused a lack of historical knowledge behind the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this culture, with most people not really knowing where their holidays, customs, traditions came from. as an indigenous person, i can tell you that most white americans don’t even really understand the history of their country, let alone where pieces of their culture came from. and a lot of the “culture” people can point to, like sports, food, media, is more about the brands we know, and not the historical practices behind them. they can list off a dozen sports teams, but not how those sports developed. can list dozens of chain restaurants but not where the foods they serve come from. tons of holidays, but little understanding behind the traditions that come with them, or the history of that celebration. most of them you’ll get an answer of “christians and pagans combined the holidays” but no answer on when, why, or how.
there is a culture, it’s everywhere around us. i can look out my back window right now and see a road of car dealerships, strip malls, and giant trucks flying through red lights. that’s white american culture. that’s it right there. It doesn’t help that they constantly try and claim to be part of a culture that aren’t because an ancestor for 100+ years ago was from somewhere in Europe. Makes people assume they must not have any of thier own if they are constantly trying to claim others as their own. There’s a difference between Ethnicity and Culture. I’m mostly French in my ancestry but I’m American by culture and nationality. Ofc, not saying there isn’t. Obviously a lot of white Americans trace thier ancestry back to Europe. But that’s different to when Americans claim to be Scottish, Polish, Italian etc when they’ve never set foot in the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this country, know nothing about life in the country, can only name 2 cities on the country etc solely because thier great grandparents are from there.
Like in Scotland for example, where I’m from born and raised, your ancestry being Scottish means next to nothing when it comes to someone being Scottish or not. Americans trying to claim to be part of a culture they aren’t part of because of that ancestry rubs people the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this wrong way. Because it makes them feel better about themselves. And they also think that making white people the new target will somehow undo centuries of racism that came before. News flash: It won’t. Two wrongs don’t make a right. America won the culture war for the 20th century. Simply put we made every nation take parts of our culture. Another way to put it, We all living in america Unrelated and unpopular opinion – but Americans have the best food by far. I have eaten around the world and food is consistently the best in the USA.
And I’m aware that food in the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this United States is adaptations of existing food from around the globe , but we perfected it. Americanized Pizza is also eaten everywhere around the world. Pepperoni and New York Style slices of Pizza are eaten everywhere in Europe (excluding Italy). White American culture is just American culture. We just don’t see it that way cause Americans in general contribute to it. Whereas minority Americans cultures stand out cause they seem distinct from the dominant American culture even though they also contribute toward it in some way. Race is a construct invented in the last few centuries. A guy collecting skulls in Russia decided that a skull from a particular region was “caucasian”. Human skin color and other physical differences are on continuums. So Black Americans don’t even have a culture of their own. There are African Americans (ancestry dating back to slave ships), Black Americans with ancestors more recently from Africa, who would identify as Somali-American or Nigerian-American. Black Americans with Caribbean roots or South American roots. Etc.
That being said, lots of Black people may refer to “Black culture”, and most Americans recognize that there are some general cultural experiences that can be considered to be “Black culture”. It’s just linguistics here, not meant to be ascribed to a race as people who live with similar ancestry and learned interests and behaviors. If you really want to refer to “White culture”, that’s your prerogative, but your culture is probably more representative of the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this region of the country you grew up in or live currently or where your recent ancestors immigrated from. “White” is a construct, too, that didn’t exist until a few centuries ago. Governments decided who was “white” based on fractional ancestry and arbitrary decisions. Were European Jews in the 1930s white? Not according to Nazi Germany. Were American Jews white? How about Irish? Italians? Etc. At different points in our history, many people did not consider certain ethnicities to be white.
So, personally, I don’t act like white Americans don’t have a culture of their own. I think the Boise State Broncos 2025 CFP We’re Ready Shirt moreover I love this whole concept of white American culture is misguided and unhelpful in the discourse. FYI, on a tangent, you did know that less than 100 years ago, someone with darker skin of African origin could be kidnapped and burned alive just for looking at a “white” person the wrong way. And “white” people would mail each other postcards of the gruesome aftermath. And people would fight over who’d get the Black person’s body parts. Yeah fr. I’m white, and “white culture” by definition is racism. The concept of “whiteness” was literally invented to promote the ideology of racism. To say white people have no culture is fucking generous. White culture is the culture of theft and erasure and all the violence associated with realizing those ends. There are so many people in the world today who carry their culture despite the historic efforts of white people to destroy the line of continuity between them and their ancestors. It’s what’s happening right now in Palestine. “White culture” seeks to destroy any culture that poses a threat to capitalism.
