I thought it was sweat but when I adjusted my sock I saw blood on my fingers and a hole in my pants. The pain didn’t really start until a few hours later, and it was a very mild ache. However, the inflammation of the tendon in the following weeks made my knee creak like a rusty hinge in a horror movie for a couple of weeks. Always remember to check for one in the chamber, and keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to fire. I took a .45 ricochet in police training. We were shooting bowling pins and got lucky it hit my vest on my shoulder, and not my eye. I found the slug. It had the imprint of the fabric on it. I should still have it, as I kept it as the only bullet I was ever going to be shot by (yeah I had been in the academy long enough to lose some intelligence). It felt like some one had slugged me with a baseball bat. Now, this was a close range ricochet, so, the bullet wasn’t anywhere near it’s muzzle velocity, but I imagine if it was, the bat would have felt more like a sledge hammer.
