Governments have done really dumb things regarding e-scooters, particularly. Here in D.C., you’re limited to 10mph, which is ridiculous. A non-electric bike beats that easily, yet no one is speed-capping bicycles or e-bikes. (We have Lime bikes and our version of Boris Bikes, too.) To me, that is a safety hazard. Cars need to be reduced and I hope private ones can get banned in the city at some point soon or at least petrol ones, but that doesn’t mean the current plans or solutions don’t need some tinkering.
