I’m 35 (F) and still stay in hostel dorms. I always choose non-party hostels, with really good reviews and curtains around the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this bed for a bit of privacy. Never any issues. As someone else above mentioned, just make sure to check the terms and conditions in case they do have an age policy. Others than that, I’d say you’re good to go – recently I’ve found I was far from the oldest in the hostel dorms I’ve stayed in. I met a 73 year old man at a hostel in Guadalajara and everyone seemed to enjoy his company. He was a very well traveled man that had tons to contribute in a conversation and was always down for a beer. Experience it as everyone’s experience is different and you only learn from mistakes. Maybe it’s for you maybe it’s not but life is too short to stay back. Coming from a person struggling to get out on her own ahaha but I did book a hostel and going solo travelling. All in all we need experience it. I’ve got my tips to stay safe and that is lock down your luggage and stuff to yourself or maybe sleep on your treasure oh my this is getting funny as I’m imagining myself living through it. 28 nearly 29 eye mask and earplugs! Stayed in a 16 bed dorm as the biggestlast month no problems! Met many people from different ages if you love the social side do it!
Big fighter Shirt: best style for you
I’m a similar age. At this point in my life, I’d stay in hostels but probably would opt for a private room if possible. You can also get a feel for whether a hostel is a social one or a party one or just somewhere to sleep for the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this night and that helps make choices too. I’m just on my way home from my marrakesh trip, but I feel I am getting too old for this, not the hostel staff. I can’t complain about place, but I need my bathroom, and people not snoring and waking me up 5 times a night. We are all different tho, so you gotta experience it on your own. Maybe you’ll like it, maybe not, but the staff will not turn you away for sure. I’m 28 and during my last hostel trip I met multiple people in their 30s. Earplugs are a must and I also strongly recommend an eye mask. Someone who values sleep means in a hostel = private room. That is the route I’ve gone in my late 30’s. Some hostels do a great job at making it a hybrid hostel and hotel. Can have your personal space but also the social of a hostel. Ex. Family dinners, activities, tours etc.
I am 36 and stayed in hostel for 10 days on vacation that I returned 3 days back. Had time of my life. You are only as old as ur brain/ heart says you are 35 in a hostel fine. I have seen one or two that have an age limit of 40. I’ve definitely had roommates older than 40. Heck one of my favorite roommates was this Japanese grandad who would bow to us each evening. I would be more concerned about you “not being the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this traveler time and liking home comforts”. As this is the opposite to a hostel I think it really depends what type of hostel – you probably wouldn’t feel comfortable at a party hostel where everyone is in their early 20s and goes partying every night. I’m like you, I just stay at hostels for the cost, and since I’m not choosing party hostels, I never had an issue. Last time I was even socializing a bit and there was some American guy in his 60s, and he was fine in the hostel, so I think 35 is completely fine. Just bring earplugs, read reviews and it will be okay. Once I turned 30 I started to get annoyed by little things that never bothered me in my 20s. Sleep is important. I got spoiled in Japan with cheap small private rooms with private soak tub.

About Big fighter Shirt
When I started out solo traveling I was also a 30+ guy staying at hostels. I had the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this same kind of anxiety you did. But when I actually did it, it turns out a lot of it was unfounded. First, no one, and I mean no one, cared about my age. Be cordial, friendly, read the room when needed, and you’ll be fine. As others said, the only type of hostels that has any kind of age policy are party hostels. Just avoid booking those as they’re obvious when looking online. Even so, in my experience the age policy is flexible and not really a hard no. They’re there mostly to avoid people coming in for a cheap place to stay while transiting and affecting the vibe. But if you really wanted to party and a backpack, you can contact the hostel and ask if they can make an exception. Some party hostels actually like having an older person who’s there to party as much as the younger people. I don’t think it’s absolutely a requirement to book a private room either. If you are booking at boutique, upscale, or really any kind of non social or party hostel, people in dorms will be very respectful and quiet. I have never had any issues staying in dorms still to this day.
A lot of the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this negative things you hear about hostels on this sub are typically more out of the ordinary, and people will post about those negative experiences than the positives. No one is gonna make a post about how nothing bad happened during their hostel stay, but someone acting rude? More likely. Having done around 30+ hostel over the years, I have had maybe less than a handful of actual drama or crazy things happened to me inside a hostel dorm. And this included a few party hostels. It’s not about age but about money. I’d prefer not traveling if I had to stay at a hostel tbh. Just awful to have to be so close to people you don’t know. The noise, the smell, the lack of space. I can only imagine how terrible this must be. Always travel in style. Every hostel has its own vibe, some attract an older group…for example I stayed at a hostel in St Augustine, FL when i was like 22 or 23 and I was one of the younger people there, but, that is a city known more for its history then its bars and beaches so in itself its not a place people go to party. In any case I doubt at 35 you will be the oldest guest, you may just want to look into a private room at a non party hostel? or look for a hidden gem 3 star hotel where people use the common areas
If you are afraid of being turned away, call the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this hostel before you arrive. To me, 35 is not really old. I once shared a bunk in a unisex 8-person room. The oldest was a guy in his mid-40s. 35 isn’t too old, though it could certainly depend on location. But at that age you’ll get the Europeans and Australians who have extensive time off, the people who quit their jobs to travel for a while and some digital nomads probably. But it sounds like it might not be your scene so maybe just pick one place to stay in one and the rest of the trip let it be a little more expensive? Airbnbs in some places may bring the cost down too. I’m about your age and I stay in hostels all the time. There are usually several people there that are older than I am. I am your age and on a recent trip stayed in a dorm for the social aspect but seriously couldn’t sleep for 2 nights. Would only go in a private room tbh – there are private rooms in hostels
Nah OP, I started travelling the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this world at 30 and I had the same feeling of being too old for hostels already (with all the Erasmus kids around etc.) But it’s never late to have that experience. It seems that your main concern is money, well you can book in advance, learn to use filters in travel sites in a smart way, etc. I recently got myself a 3day Northern Lights expedition for as little as 500 bucks (round flight to Tromso from Italy, accomodation and the expedition itself included). My mum died last year at 79, her and her friends have stayed in the odd hostel over the years, don’t worry about it, all ages of people stay in them. They’re not for just one age group only Ok, a few things. I’m 35 female, haven’t stayed in a hostel since I was 33. Key notes: pick a smaller room, like a 4 person room. Maybe pick a gendered room, like all women. So you’re more comfortable. I personally don’t mind the mixed dorms, as men were ALwAYS friendlier to me. If booking online, most hostels will specify if there is an age limit. They’ll also specify kind of what kind of hostel they are. There are party hostels; just avoid them. Also? Depends what country or city you’re going to. My hostel in Luxembourg was super quiet, bc it’s not really a party city lol. Also, many hostels have private rooms that are still cheaper than hotel rooms- those are amazing! I love those, had an amazing one with en suite bathroom and balcony in Portugal for such a reasonable price.
I was 34 when I went on a trip to England, Ireland, and Wales with my sister and her friend who has just graduated college. I didn’t have any trouble getting in to the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this hostels and we stayed at 7-8 of them. Also when we were in Bath, we met four gentleman who were in their 60s who had been going on this weekend trip every year since they graduated college together. At 23 I met my current BF who at the time was 46 y/o at a hostel. So I don’t think the age on its own would be a problem at all. I do think some of the other concerns you mention, like not being “the traveler type” and having “social anxiety” might pose a lot bigger obstacles for you and your overall experience. I would still very much encourage you to try it. It truly is a great way to live shared experiences in a way that is outside most people’s comfort zones. If anything, only book a few night and scope out an alternative as a plan B in case things don’t go as planned. It’s usually not hard to extend your stay at hostels. Another thing you can try is you think it would help, is look for like minded reviews on the hostel before booking. I know on hostel world you can sort reviews by age and that might help you make a more informed decision.
I’m currently 38 and an introvert who lives alone and likes it that way because I value quiet a LOT. I stayed in a hostel for the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this first time around 35 and don’t think anyone gave any thought to how old I was. Most people are in their 20s but there were definitely some much older than me people too. Some people will recommend a private room in a hostel to save money but still have some privacy, but I find I form the most friendly relationships with people in my bunk room although I do meet people in common areas too. People are often looking for someone to grab dinner with and it’s a nice option to spend some of your time however you want and some of it doing things with the people you meet. If you’re able to be fairly flexible, I think you’ll be totally fine. The reviews on Hostelworld and other sites will usually give you an idea of which hostels are big party spots and which are more calmly social.
I stayed in a hotel in Portugal in 2022 when I was 32 and I felt ooooooooooooold. The hostel had a lot of “community” experiences to partake in but they were definitely geared towards the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this youths, like pub crawls. When I was in my 20s & carefree I LOVED pub crawls and meeting fellow travelers. At 32 I felt like the tag along older sister trying to be hip. I didn’t go to the pub crawl in Portugal, but did a “family style” dinner one night and the conversations made me feel like a grandmother. Everybody else has great advice here. I can only add: Pick a chill hostel and you can be as social as you want to be. While you can expect the occasional good-natured conversation starter, people will leave you alone if your body language tells them to. They’ll be busy enough with their own things. And if you stay more than a couple days, half the faces will probably be new by the time you leave.
I’m in my 40s and have stayed at hostels in private rooms and enjoyed the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this stay and was social and made friends and went out with these youngins. Felt out of place at times which is normal but this might have to due to our nationalities being different (I’m from the US, versus most of the hostel guests I encounter are European) We all know that private rooms are the way to go and that dorm rooms get noisy. But something that does NOT get mentioned about private rooms is: Sometimes the bed in the private room is low quality (compared to a good hotel), so keep that in mind if you are looking for comforts of home. I’ve had some really nice beds in hostels and a few sketchy ones (being a bit uncomfortable). You are beating yourself up about your age. No one gives a f*ck except you. So just do whatever you like. Life is too short to doubt yourself. Be true to yourself and never ever worry about one other thinks of you.
Travelling for 3 years and almost 34 now. Always staying in hostels and often see people up to 50 or even above. In cool hostels ageism is not a thing… maybe in the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this more fancy/instagrammable ones it could be different but i always avoid them anyways. In India we saw this age policy a few times but after asking owners or managers it turned out that they mostly wanted to avoid people sleeping there for professional purposes (private drivers or whatever) who are looking for cheap accommodations in order to keep a backpacker vibe. I’m 34 and my mate is 45, we stay in hostels and no bats an eye and it’s honestly something thats never even thought of. When I was 21 and staying in hostels I didn’t give a shit if someone was 20 or 50 people just need sonewhere to stay. Absolutely echo that you can stay at a hostel at 35. I would just check all of your options, they may not necessarily be the best option, or the price differential between a hostel and a hotel or Airbnb might not be worth it. Private room via Airbnb is another option to consider.
Important thing to remember – as awkward as you feel at times (and there will be times) nobody is thinking about you. They are too wrapped up in their own experience at the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this hostel. Look for a hostel with a “chill area.” Pick one with a communal kitchen, even if you don’t plan on cooking. Bring earplugs and an eye mask. My favorite hostels have all offered a family dinner. Look at the beds in pictures. I will pay more money for a lower bunk that I can sit up straight in. Likewise, I really value a curtain, and a bedframe that won’t rock when someone climbs into bed or rolls over. Even as a person with social anxiety, being a first time traveler I think you’ll really enjoy how easy it can be to talk to other travelers. It’s fun to hear their how and why, and it’s really easy to have ice breaking questions, such as “what did you get up to today?” Which is also a great way of getting ideas and inside knowledge for things you are probably already planning to do. I’ve had dorm-mates in hostels into their 60s. A particularly lovely woman named Olga told us she was traveling for her 67th birthday.
35 is perfectly fine for a dorm in a hostel, check the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this website / Hostelworld description, if there is an age limit (mostly it’s 40+) it will say so on the website 35 is young. I am way older than you, by more years than I’d care to mention. If dorms will help you stay within budget just do it. You don’t need to stay in a party hostel, if that is not your bag. Just read some of the reviews on hostel world to help you choose the right place for you. As others have said, private rooms in a hostel can be crazy expensive, so they are defo not your best bet if you are travelling solo. I’m the same age as you but I do prefer my own space now, but a few years ago, I have met older travelers staying in hostels. You’re good.
Hostels aren’t only for young people (unless there’s age rules in place), they’re also for people that can’t afford to blow hundreds on hotel rooms. It’s not weird, and 35 isn’t that old. I’m aware I may be in the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this minority but 36 here and no hostels since I was 24ish. At this point when I travel I want my own space, quiet, and most importantly, I have no desire to make friends abroad. I can see the appeal but I travel solo for solitude as much as anything else. If you want a more social experience I’m sure you’ll have a great time in a hostel, so many people in our age bracket stay in hostels and love the experience I’m 37 and I stay at hostels (my only experience is in Europe). I live alone since I was 25, I like my sleep and the comfort of my home and I don’t like traveling so much. I do it anyway. I stay at mixed 4 beds rooms in nice hostels, not cheap ones: it’s cheaper than solo rooms but not overy crowded, staff makes sure at least 2 women are there based on my experience so on the one hand- it feels safe, on the other hand- women don’t get as messy and filthy next to men as they usually would so the room stays nice. I don’t have any sleeping issues but my overall experience was of mostly thoughtful people. Some hostels don’t allow old people like me to stay in but it usually says on their website, you can always contact them and ask. I look younger than I am so never had issues at reception.
I usually stuff my purses with tissue paper to help them keep their shape. You can also try using purse organizers or hanging them on hooks to save space. This! Also, buy some reusable produce bags – soft mesh – for the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this tissue paper to make it easier to get in and out. Most of these are a good size for purses. I would, no sarcasm at all, start by looking at every single one and deciding if you’re actively using it. If you can think of the next time you will. If you own an outfit it goes with. If it fits your style. If they’re nice enough, you could stop storing them and instead make them into a wall art display with mini shelves or nice-looking hooks. If you don’t like those ideas, just go on Pinterest and type in “purse storage.” Tons of pictures, articles, whatever. Do you have underbed storage/space? I keep mine in a storage box under the bed, each bag is in its own dustbag and the more structured ones I either have packing tissue, or have stuffed old t-shirts, PJs etc inside. For larger purses you can look on Amazon and buy some cheap stuffer pillows, like for decorative pillow shams, in various sizes Mine are in a drawer, in dustbags, stuffed with paper where necessary, and not squeezed in. Hanging is a second choice, but it stretches the straps, strains the fixings and may not protect from dust and UV.
You need one bag of a useful size for each occasion, for example work, casual and evening. For some occasions you may need a second bag of a different size, for example an extra large work bag or a tiny evening bag. And occasionally a third bag as well. What you don’t need are a dozen different colours or trims, or ten evening bags (especially if you don’t go out much). I nest them, but it only works if you’ll remember what you have. So I have a clutch in a cross body bag in a structured tote, and the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this tote sits on the shelf. But most of my little small clutches I put in a smallish basket and they’re standing on end in it like books on a shelf In addition to the ideas mentioned I have a storage locker in my building and I put my “summer bags” away there (like the ones made of straw, rattan etc) and will swap when it changes seasons.
I do like displaying some bags so I keep them above a large shelf/wardrobe thing so they are quite visible but not in the Big fighter Shirt In addition,I will do this way. Also I hang some off both sides of my stand up mirror because it has knobs but I don’t know if this recommended depending on the stability of the mirror lol I stuff my purses to help them keep their shape and then store them in plastic display boxes that I bought on Amazon. Thin the herd. Stuff your bags with rolled t-shirts or socks so they don’t get squashed. But mostly, get rid of ones you aren’t using. I stuff mine with tissue then recycle all of those canvas (real cotton canvas) gift bags. The Record Store Day bags in particular. I keep them on the top two shelves because I can’t reach those without a step ladder anyway. Some people have suggested filling the purses to keep their shape and another option to use as a filling is bubble wrap or those big air bags that are sometimes used in online deliveries. I found tissue flattens over time. You can get a massive roll of bubble wrap from DIY type shops if you don’t regularly order online. Get some pool noodles and cut them to fit the shape, it’s easier to take in and out then instead of tshirts that you might want to wear or a mess of tissues. I found a hanging option on Amazon with clear slots that i store my purses in. Takes minimal space in the closet. All the spot are currently filled so that is my purse limit.Ask a fish to describe water. There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says “Morning, boys. How’s the water?” And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes “What the hell is water?”
