I’ve always had dogs so that’s my reference, but in a pack it’s normal behaviour to display displeasure with growling and eventually snapping at a puppy. No. We take reasonable precaudtions where we don’t leave her alone unsupervised with the animals, but we are not concerned with them hurting her intentionally. When we introduced them, we took precautions and had the dogs on leashes and used a squirt bottle to teach the energetic one to stay out of her face. Yes! I was an ER nurse for 15 years before I had my first baby. I have seen so many horrible dog bites to kids. My anxiety was super high after having a baby. We gave our dog to my parents when my baby became mobile. My anxiety could not tolerate it. Even 3 years later I don’t like my daughter to be near dogs especially touch them. I was very careful with my cat and my baby. I never let them be alone together. When the baby was small, the cat avoided her. Maybe buffed her head on the baby’s belly very friendly, but always moved out of the way if baby tried to grab tail or fur. And if the baby made noise, the cat just left the room. But when baby was… maybe 2 years? Then the cat seemed to decide baby was big enough to be raised properly. Cat let baby pet her and didn’t move away like before. But if baby was too rough, the cat would grab the hand or arm with her teeth! It looked terible and scared both me and baby. But there was no bite. Only “information”: I don’t like what you just did! The child quickly learned.
Nah, we’ve had lot of pets and all of my kids grew up with them since they were babies, and let me tell you that dogs are very gentle with them. My kids especially loves our Rotties and German Shepherds and they were all so careful around them I used to work in a sports centre and a nice woman used to come to the Best Regular Show Hm Hm Hm 2024 T shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this gym. We as humans are arrogant and ignore distress signals often from our pets. A human child is a considerable danger to an animal in most cases. It is never surprising when an animal being trapped or harassed acts like an animal. Supervision and being realistic about your pets comfort zones is important.

I’m having my first baby in a few months and have two dogs. I’ve got no worries at all. My dogs are incredibly soft and loving and baby won’t be left alone with them at any point for months and months. And even when that time comes it’ll be for seconds if anything. I’m going to introduce them slowly and calmly and have lots of faith in them adapting to their new friend in no time. I’ve got a cat. Again- not ALL dogs will react that way and some will need more close supervision than others- but for the most part dogs tend to see their master’s human baby as their new baby.

(NB I think dogs tend to fall into one of two categories: Either they see a young child and go “Hm, weird naked puppy but a puppy nonetheless”, or they see a young child and go “WTF is that freaky midget thing that keeps staring at me, keep it away”). Once he did it with the kids, he had to be completely separate from them and was miserable but we had no choice. Not at all, if anything, most are afraid that the baby might harm a pet, cuz lil bastards tend to grab a handful of fur and pull like their lives depend on it I have had cats all my daughter’s life. When she was under a year I didn’t leave her alone with the cat, or allow the cat to go into her bedroom, not because I thought the cat would hurt her but to avoid fur in her mouth. The cat showed a lot of respect for the baby, avoiding her, which helped honestly. When the baby was older and crawling around, I knew there was a risk of a scratch, but a cat scratch is no bigger risk than all the many ways a moving baby can bump themselves. The cat was again very respectful – I distinctly remember one time the baby caught her tail, I went over quickly to intervene, and the cat turned and bit me, hard. She knew she couldn’t hurt the baby, but she knew whose fault it really was.
When my daughter got bigger, she got scratched sometimes. She gets scratched sometimes. As soon as I brought my son home he was by his side. He stayed by his side the entirety of his life. They were inseparable. Sadly he passed at a ripe old age of 17, me & my son was by his side. My son was heart-broken. He has known him his entire life & he said lost his brother that day. I wasn’t worried at all. And when we brought the babies home my cats took one look and then stayed as far away as they could from the wiggly potato. I’ll admit I was pretty nervous about bringing my baby home. We have a jack russell/chihuahua mix and she’s obviously never been mean to anyone really. She accidentally jumped on my pregnant belly once while I’m assuming she was was trying to jump next to me while I was on the couch and she stepped on bubby’s leg when he was doing tummy time early on but she’s extremely careful not to do that now. If anything I’m teaching him to be gentle with her. We got our house refinanced a couple of days after I got home from the hospital and the guy from the bank was actually the only person she’s ever nipped at. Having a new baby in the house probably made her more protective. Me, no, but my daughter’s mother was nervous about our cat. Had plans to keep cat away. As it turned out the cat was zero issues, she was old and while friendly she wasn’t all.over our daughter like we thought.
Animals seem to instinctively know that babies are fragile and delicate. And many animals seem to understand their owner is pregnant so they know a baby is coming. Do you know your pets? Are they aggressive and unpredictable now? Did you train them? Do you plan to leave them alone together? Do you plan to supervise and teach your child how to interact with animals? You know your pet best. Babies and pets are both predictable, in my opinion. Babies cry. Babies pull/grasp ( it’s literally a reflex)… but like… are you going to let it do that alone in your dogs face? No. You’re probably good. Again… pets are predictable, too. Ears back, fur up, growing, hissing, etc. are all signs your animal is uncomfortable. I’ve got a cat and a German shepherd. GSD is 18 months old and while she’s been around my older children since she was 8 weeks old, she’s never been around a baby. When I gave birth to my 3rd recently, we slowly introduced her to the Best Regular Show Hm Hm Hm 2024 T shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this baby. First through the door, through the window, then my partner (her trusted human) took baby outside to her so she could meet him “in the flesh”. Every interaction she’s had with him she’s been gentle and loving, she just licks him and rests her head on him. She also has VERY BIG crackhead energy) but she knows he’s here and I take him to greet her every morning.
