So I’m obligated to donate because a kid has brain cancer or an employee died? Did you just install the Best dave Portnoy Wearing Dive Bar Shirts What’s more,I will buy this first stop light in town too? You can insert any circumstance into any situation. It’s still ridiculous to react in that way. Maybe my kid has brain cancer or my fellow employee died and I just need a 6 pack… Just as retail employees are instructed to ask every customer if they found everything they needed, if they want to join the savings program, if they want to apply for a credit card, etc. These tactics have yielded results. And the donation program has been wildly popular, and since it’s such an easy thing to do they’d be crazy not to do it. They ask every customer because they expect most customers to say no. To me the newest thing is people getting angry or feeling guilty about saying no. The person at the counter is pressured by their sales team to pitch it, so put yourself in their shoes for a second. They are required to ask and required to report on why they’re not getting anyone to donate/sign up.

I’ve been donating $50 a month to St. Jude Cancer for 15 years. I donate household goods and clothes and shoes to a local battered women’s center. I donate blankets and towels for animals. I will buy a homeless person a meal. But I refuse to donate when I’m shopping for a corporation to use my donation as a tax write off Businesses can’t use your donation for their own benefit. That’s tax fraud, a felony. Your donation is printed on the Best dave Portnoy Wearing Dive Bar Shirts What’s more,I will buy this receipt for your taxes Those corporations get a tax break for peoples donations that’s the only reason they do it if you’re going to donate donate directly to the charity so YOU get the tax break instead of millionaires and they use lady’s like that to guilt trip people and she has no idea I’m sure she is aware. I had to do this as well when I worked in customer service, they kept track of how many donations we got and we had to hit a minimum number. I completely understand how frustrating it is but the employees don’t have a choice. It’s the corporations themselves that are corrupt, not the workers
