If it donates the Best cHIPOTLE MEXICAN friends groot toothless shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this money to a charity that shares the name of the company that’s an automatic no from me but there is zero proof anything neferious is happening. Or we just say no every time at the checkout and give the money ourselves later. Because I can tell you in a lot of cases these corporations are just doing it to dodge taxes. Scenario 1: you pay full price for your purchase and then add a dollar, round up, etc. That additional donation is yours to claim as a deduction, and is listed as such on your receipt. You can bring that to your accountant at tax time and claim it for a tax deduction. The store cannot also claim that donation. Most people don’t claim it, because a few dollars here and there rarely ends up being more than the standard deduction, so it’s not worth it. Even if you don’t claim it yourself, the store still can’t claim it for themselves. Scenario 2: You pay full price for your purchase and nothing else. The store donates a percentage of the proceeds for the night/week/whatever time period out of that purchase. That’s their donation and thus they can claim it at tax time and you can’t, because you only paid the price of the good/service.

Best cHIPOTLE MEXICAN friends groot toothless shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

In both scenarios, only one party can claim the Best cHIPOTLE MEXICAN friends groot toothless shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this tax benefit for the purchase. Are corporations moral? Of course not. Do some companies try to do shady shit to get around this? I’m sure there are some. But people acting like you’re getting scammed by donating at the register only serve to reduce donations to charities for these campaigns. I don’t give a shit if the company uses my donation for PR or if they collect interest on it. It’s $2. It’s more than I would do with $2. I think the same thing whenever I see animal rescue commercials.. like they ask for money but producing that commercial and buying ad time.. They probably break even lol they could just skip the commercial and invest fully in their cause? All that crap is a scam anyway, I say
