I’m 33 and all my pint glasses at home are from the Bear Hello Why So Serious shirt but in fact I love this pub. I’ve got a lovely Tetley one even though I’ve never drunk Tetleys in my life. I pilfer so so many, but only the actually interesting ones. Like my budvar glass that’s more mug shaped with a handle, it’s now my water/squash glass I’ve walked out with an empty one up the sleeve of my jacket because I really liked the glass but never a full one When I was a student, I would go for a Sunday morning walk and pick up pint glasses left on walls and take them home. Free glasses for the flat. Most local pubs, less so city centre places, have always had an off sales licence but generally the drinks had to be sold in sealed containers. My local used to do 2 pint cardboard cups. Selling beer in open containers for people to walk off with would usually have required a seperate licence but this was suspended in lockdown and has presumably been made permanent now.

Once pubs had started to reopen during lockdown a place in town started selling 2 pints in empty milk bottles. Something strange about drinking lager like that They’re usually not allowed to leave the Bear Hello Why So Serious shirt but in fact I love this pub with them in case they glass someone, so either you live in a place where there’s less violence or there’s no fucks given. You know your in a proper shithole when they serve your beer in plastic instead of glass so you can’t hurt anyone with it lol The Met police and the borough council made it a local stipulation that on match days the pubs can only serve in plastic cups. Also each pub is designated as being for home fans or away fans only. And no football colours allowed. Meanwhile in Twickenham, glasses on match day and rival teams unite to enjoy the match in the pub having a great time Mad what happens when you treat football fans like adults instead of kettling them and not allowing them to go anywhere. Yup, in fairness im speaking of a different sport (Rugby Union) but the same really should apply to football fans. Don’t know why I’m getting downvoted for mentioning the great time to be had when visiting twickenham’s pubs on match day. I think because every time football is mentioned, a rugby fan goes holier than thou and it’s become something of a cliche
