I’m a neuro spicy adhd girlie! Meditation, breathwork, and my yoga practice have provided me with a ton of joy and gives me techniques to quiet my attention hijacked brain. I ended up becoming a teacher myself! Don’t focus on anything. Sitting still and relaxing muscles requires awareness so you already have awareness. No extra focus or attention is necessary. Don’t try to stop thoughts. Just check whether muscles are relaxed or not.

I have adhd and my psychiatrist told me she wouldn’t renew my meds and that i should try meditating instead for a while and see how it goes, I’m a buddhist with ADHD, um… I’m upset at your psychiatrist – that is not how one gets into meditation and that sort of expectation on meditation to “fix things” is unhelpful, intention is key (it’s meant to be a joyous peaceful thing done for its own good) – it’s true people that meditate may better able to manage other things, but that is a consequence of a different intention – just to do it for its own sake – this using meditation as some panacea is not correct – it’s meant to be a joyful and relaxing thing – the Be careful who you hate it could be someone you love lgbt T-Shirt and by the same token and peace that comes doing nothing “this is peacefull, this is sublime, the stilling of all activities” – it’s a great and fulfulling activity, like cooking well, sleeping well, exercising and can greatily improve mental health – would anyone suggest those as a mechanism off medication? well, maybe, but geez I don’t think anyone would give them magical powers but when it comes to meditation (some) health care professionals think it’s a magic cure-all
