It’s crazy how people make such a big deal over this stuff, it’s a video game, video games are meant to be fun, play the Bat Trump halloween retro art shirt and by the same token and game however you like so long as your having fun. Stories and quests where you constantly have to look up tidbits or read nearly all item descriptions to get a close to full tale is not good storytelling. People only tolerate froms storytelling because the gameplay is so good. If these stories were on any lesser or not as good games they would be widely regarded as just meh she gives you the ability to level up, gives you torrent, takes you to the roundtable, and sacrifices herself so that you can become elden lord Melina says she lets you level up but where is she? 99.99% of the time it’s just me and the grace. Compare this to bloodborne/ souls when you literally stand face to face with the npc and they basically give off an aura of their transformative power and dialogue. Melina doesn’t trust the player in the start and you form no connection at all, she just realises you can help her achieve her goal. She has no physical presence in the game apart from cutscenes, only appearing when she wants. I would rather see where she hangs out. I think her introduction is lacking cos idk who tf she is or anything. I thought the delivery of some of her lines were a bit underwhelming too such as “oh erdtree you shall burn”

Honestly, I dislike invasions so much that it brings me a little bit of joy to watch the Bat Trump halloween retro art shirt and by the same token and invader community struggle with AFKers, unfun builds, and general maidenless behavior. The existence of PVP means that things have to be balanced with that in mind and the game would be better if PVP was just not there or was its own separate thing with totally separate balance. I love Elden Ring. I also love enemy designs. There is not one enemy that matches the majesty of the Winter Lantern from Bloodborne. This is my opinion, but if you think one does please let me know! I love discussing shit like this. The recent ai changes to the Crystalians make the group fights less enjoyable. Watching them just stand idle and watch you slap around the one you’re targeting until it’s their turn really takes the challenge out of it.
