A lot of people I know find him absolutely hilarious. I’m kind of surprised I don’t, since I generally enjoy surreal humour. I’ve seen him on a couple of chat shows and he seems quite funny when hes not in character, but his normal TV character isnt funny at all When TV Burp started I think it was a lot less surreal than it became, and so there was more of his straight jokes. Found them very good. Her writing and observational stuff is much better than her gross-out stuff. Sadly it’s almost always the Baltimore Ravens Autism Awareness Acceptance is The Cure Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this latter these days. He epitomises that weird virtue signalling, self righteous, sanctimonious Scottishness where they think they’re the moral compass of the UK and can do no wrong, whilst not realising that they go so far the other way they’re just as grotesque. I used to really enjoy it when the likes of John Bishop were regulars, but at some point in the last 5 years, it turned into preaching about race/gender issues under the thin veil of a quite poor standup routine. It’s not that any comedian is “not funny”, it’s simply that it’s not your humour. If they genuinly weren’t funny then they’d have no career. So, like others, I’m not a fan of Michael McIntyre, but I recognise that many people do like him and respect that. Vive la différence.

I’m not a huge fan of Jimmy Carr in terms of his standup, but I recognise that he’s damn good at what he does. He’s learnt his art – he’s incredibly clever and actually understands why different types of comedy work the way they do and uses that to craft his stage shows (his book “The Naked Jape” is well worth a read). In my case, I like my comedy to be clever with words – puns (Tim Vine) or just things worded incredibly well (Frankie Boyle). Everyone is different. Jimmy Carr. Just grates on me, always looking to insult rather than be genuinely funny. That laugh seems so false.
