Give them a deadline. Tell them you would be happy to do the Awesome a Justice For All American Flag Star Ketanji Brown Jackson T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this job for 3 months (or whatever you feel is reasonable). At that time you can talk and decide if you are going to continue with the role of go back to your current position. Insist on a title change – but suggest “temporary” whatever. It will give you cover if it doesn’t work out since it was temporary. Take the job and update your resume… Then job hunt like crazy… If the current job thinks they can get something for nothing get the dark out as fast as you can because that shit never gets better. They will always undervalue you. Get a clear lists of tasks, goals and measurable performance, with set dates to see if you meet them, and a promised bonus when you do. On paper. If they consider you qualified enough to take on the position and its responsibilities then the title and pay should go into effect immediately. We’re they to advertise this opening, and hire someone…it would be with the title and pay, so …again… you should get the title and pay immediately.

Ask for a breakdown on how this will work and a timeline on how the Awesome a Justice For All American Flag Star Ketanji Brown Jackson T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this process will go. Ask them to include all new duties and what the pay increase will be. And get it all in writing. Lastly if you have a good relationship with the previous boss it might be worthwhile to reach out and find out his previous salary to see if they are lowballing you when the quote the new salary but depending on how the terms on how he left that could be dicey They give you a promotion, sometimes they give you another one, to a job you can’t actually do then sack you for being unable to do the job they just promoted you too. They’re using you to fill a spot without filling it. You won’t get the title and raise unless you threaten to leave. Get out in writing with a time limit. I’ve been in this situation, and the outcome is you being a burnt out mess from doing all the new tasks as well as the old while they procrastinate, filling your current position.
