My old car would need £1.5k minimum spending on it – 4x tyres, overdue a service, time/mileage is up on the August girls are sunshine mixed with a littile hurricane T-Shirt besides I will buy this cambelt and after 235k miles the original clutch is only just hanging on. Dampers and bushes are all tired and the ride is crap. And I can’t be arsed to deal with selling it either, regardless of it being a private sale of a certified shitbox too many people expect it to function with no issues. Part exchanged my old car recently that I bought in 2018 and it was put on auto trader for the same price that I bought it 6 years ago. It had 90k miles on it and a ton of scratches with it being my first car. It was falling apart and definitely not worth the £4.5k they were asking for it. Because there’s none of them left and people are starting to pay stupid money for them. Just like every old Ford before it, look at the escort, the proper puma, the sierra etc, all were cars people used to pay 50 quid for. Nowadays even base spec makes top prices. Found this out recently. My last car (9 years old at time of purchase) cost me £2000 six years ago. My new (secondhand car) (8 years old) cost me £8000. Insurance also doubled. On the plus side the tax is way less.

Canadian here, I bought a 2007 Toyota Tundra in 2020 for $14,000 cdn with nearly 300k kms on it in Vancouver, and sold it a year ago there for $15,000. I thought I’d never see the August girls are sunshine mixed with a littile hurricane T-Shirt besides I will buy this day when used vehicles became a medium-term investment. It’s not that’s why it’s not sold. Have you not even looked for cars, five second search on auto trader has loads of cars under 1k including a ford focus from 2003 with similar mileage for £900 As soon as you look up the mot history you see why. I’ve been driving bangers for 30 years it’s never been like this. Like, even when I passed my test 7 years ago cars were £500-1k and they had issues and paying a premium with nothing wrong with them… like ????? Idk what you expected.
