It isn’t perfect, but my busses and trains when I take them are almost always exactly on time or within say 3-5 minutes for the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this busses. Slightly more than 10 years, but it’s now illegal to smoke at public facilities like swimming pools, sports grounds, railway stations, bus stops, and within 4m of building entries, restaurants and cafes. Not lifestyle changing for me in the way it was when they got rid of smoking in pubs (2007) but a continued improvement. I think by 2014 we’d just upgraded from our shithouse 256k adsl to super mega amazing high speed 1.5Mbps Cable Broadband for the first time. So the difference between that and the 50mbps fttp nbn connection we have now on top of 5g is certainly a jump in the better access direction.
Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt: Unleash Your Inner Fighter
I went to university with a very peculiar girl who lacked social skills and had mad Dolores Umbridge vibes (like saccharin sweet with a bit of dead-behind-the-eyes going on). We were all sat in a kitchen in one of the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this halls chatting and I told a story about how my mum was told by her grandad that there were no white lines on country roads because the sheep ate them. She only questioned the veracity of this information as she was repeating it to a car full of her mates as they drove to a country pub as young people (Lolz). Not two days later I was sat in a group in a pub with Dolores and a few others, when she starts to regale the crowd with this hilarious story about how she was told as a child that there were no white lines…. And repeated my anecdote verbatim, only subbing in herself as the main character. She even made eye contact with me and didn’t break stride. I didn’t know what to do. It was the oddest situation!
Has this ever happened to you? Has anyone ever stolen your anecdote?I made a bunch of flash games when I was a kid and eventually got sponsored by one of the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this big online game sites. When this happened my friend always wanted to get in on it and would offer to think of ideas for me in exchange for half of the money but I didn’t exactly need an ideas man so I refused to ever involve him and all of his ideas were pretty terrible anyway. Today he tells people that me and him made all of the games I made on my own together with him and I actually think in his head he believes it. I have a game with a flash interface that’s been redundant since flash got cancelled everywhere (internet hasn’t been the same since IMO).

Do you make games on another platform now, or have you given up? I keep having fantasies about reigniting the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this flame of my old game. Yeah I make my games in GameMaker these days. Reasonably powerful tool and I like that I can export them to browser like the old days. I gave up on trying to make a proper career in game development ages ago and just approach it as a hobby now. My stuff is up here https://chris.newgrounds.com/ if you want to check out the kinds of things it can do. Everything from 2023 onwards is GameMaker. There’s a site called itch.io that has captured a lot of the feel of the old flash game sites, I think it mainly uses HTML5 for browser games. Its all HTML5 now as Flash is long dead. It still exists as animation software (called Animate now) but the Flash player is discontinued. There is Ruffle which is a flash emulator some sites use to stay alive and some sites such as Newgrounds have developed their own flash emulator they’re rolling out across old entries but in general browser gaming is all HTML5 now. That said a lot of modern engines will output to the format. How about we just turn the background of the subreddit into a giant green naan bread just to confuse the heck out of people who aren’t in the loop When my friends and I re-tell stories from our past, I have one friend who will insert himself into every story as we’re telling them as if he witnessed the events, even though he wasn’t there, to the point where he has been trying to gaslight us into believing he went to the same school as my friends and I. He also has a habit of claiming “I loaned you that” whenever you show off something cool. He’s the reason I haven’t had a house party as I’m positive he’ll try and steal my shit in front of everyone under the guise that it’s “his”. Years ago, when I was backpacking across Western Europe, I was just outside Barcelona, hiking in the foothills of mount Tibidabo.
Yes, I remember telling this weird girl this anecdote about the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this reason there were no white lines on country roads was because the sheep ate them, just a couple of days later she repeats it back as if it happened to her, while I was present. That’s odd. I remember telling this weird girl this anecdote about the reason there were no white lines on country roads was because the sheep ate them, just a couple of days later she repeats it back as if it happened to her, while I was present. Looking me in the eye. Not mine but at a funeral my family member told an anecdote/joke about his dad, only for the vicar to pipe up, you stole the joke i told you. Imagine spending so little time with your dad that the only anecdote you had was stolen from the vicar It’s completely standard for vicars at funerals to have to change what they are going to say because the family pre-empt them – even when the family have specifically asked them to say those things! I can’t imagine ever correcting someone like that!
I can imagine he was laughing to be honest, his son is a prick and was only concerned about what he could get money wise, when he saw he had nothing he was nowhere to be seen In a spirit of devilment, I once made up an anecdote about someone pretty obsure, but notable enough to have a Wikipedia page, and put it on wikipedia. His OWN SON took the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this anecdote, and put it in the biography he was writing about his dad (which is great, as I now have an independent published citation for the anecdote). It also appeared in the Sunday papers a couple of times in articles about the dad. Perfect! Interestingly, the anecdote has now come true, as it stated “Group X calls something Y” so once the idea entered the public domain and became reasonably notorious in a very narrow field, group X did indeed start calling that thing Y. A childhood mate of mine (B) stole an anecdote about a “legendary night out” of mine. I don’t particularly remember the night out now, but basically me and another mate (A) drunkenly got on the wrong train home, got off in a random town and caught a taxi home. Anyway this mate had apparently co-opted my anecdote, internalised it to the point where he fully believed it. Then, B told me and A the tale about his legendary night out. I pointed out that it was my night out and A backed me up. I watched B’s brain short circuit while his reality collapsed, but he couldn’t accept it – so he offered me outside for a fight.
Bit of a different take: I had a girl in uni who so desperately wanted to be me that she dyed her hair all the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this same colours as me two days after I dyed it and wore the same outfit as me the day after I’d worn it. She listened to the same bands as me and had all the same favourite songs as me. She even changed how she spelt the short version of her name to be more similar to mine (she started to use an i instead of a y…think Dotti instead of Dotty or Lani instead of Laney) She was a sweet enough girl and so we were friendly with one another and I’d invite her round with the rest of the friend group. Anyways, last year (eight years out of uni) we all went to a hen do and the drinking games began. We started sharing stories and she told us of a time she dragged a guy called Jamie out to the bushes on our campus, confused her love to him and erm…”made out” with him. I was so confused as I had done this with Jamie not her, and so I drunkenly called her out. Then she sheepishly admitted the she knew I had done this and so she attempted the exact same thing the following year but then stated that there was no “making out” as he rejected her.
Poor Jamie. He has a dim memory of some girl dragging him off and sticking her tongue down his throat. The next year, a different girl, but with the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this same hair and clothes, tries to do it again. He tells this story, and no one believes him. He’s slowly desending into madness trying to figure out if it was real. I’ve stolen someone else’s before. We were at dinner and we’d had a little wine. I started telling this story of how me and my wife complained about the mattresses in a hotel, only for my wife to interrupt me, telling everyone at the table very loudly that it wasn’t us, it was her friend, who’d told us a few weeks beforehand. I was like, “Oh yeah” hahaha There was a woman at an old workplace that used to do this both to me and other people. She was on the autistic spectrum so I put it down to her not knowing what to do in group social situations. She was otherwise kind and pleasant, but sometimes she would copy what I did or she would repeat an anecdote to me that I knew from someone else in the office (a couple of times me and this woman had both been present when the original storyteller told everyone the original story, and later she would repeat it as her own)
Interesting. My parents/family and I tell “sourceless” anecdotes a lot. Someone visited and said we were very anecdotal and I had never realised it was unusual. Maybe that is a sign … When I was a baby/toddler, whenever I was with my dad who was having Guinness I would apparently dip my dummy into his Guinness, not even just once this was a thing all the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this time. Mentioned this at some point and a kid stole it and used it as a ‘this is how Irish I am compared to you southerners’ My former boss would do this. He ALWAYS had stories about some friend or family member, literally hundreds of anecdotes over the years. I would sometimes tell him a story of something that happened to a friend of mine or family member, and years later he would then regale everyone with a funny or mad story about a friend of his or family member, but it actually one of the anecdotes I told him. I would always wonder how many of his stories he had actually stolen over the years. And anytime anything would happen in his local area and it was in the news, it would always be his friend or family member that it happened to.
I have a massive extended family with a whole cross section of artists, actors, musicians, nurses, outdoor instructors and tree surgeons amongst us. I was once accused (by a shambling drunk) of ‘lying to try and impress people’ coz we were round a table bouncing anecdotes back and forth and I had a boat load of yarns to spin. I hope I don’t end up co-opting other people’s tales… Yup, I was made a joke in German class at school. My cousin was a teacher in the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this same school as me and said the teacher has repeated the joke as his own. I feel like jokes are more fair game. Most canned jokes that people tell were learned / copied from someone else; it’s not like telling a supposedly true story about something funny that happened to you. I run a cub scout pack. I remember one time when I was giving the cubs some basic first aid training, one boy came up with a line that I said I would use next time I ran the session.
The next time I did that activity – a year or two later – I definitely used the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this line, and remember remembering that I’d stolen it. Today, I have no idea what that line was. I suspect I’ve absorbed it into my standard first aid patter, and have forgotten that it wasn’t my own. It’s pretty normal to repeat a funny joke you heard. Not the same as pretending someone’s experience happened to you My younger half sister. She’s a narcissist and gaslighter. I’ve blocked her on everything but she steals Al my sisters and my childhood memories, trauma etc and makes them her own. She wasn’t even born when me and my older sister had these memories but less than a week later it’s all over her Facebook as poor me when we were all sat having coffe together once.
I know a young lass (~18) with BPD, and she does that shit with her siblings. Obviously that doesn’t diagnose your sister, but it may be something like that. in any case people like this can be a real challenge to deal with. You have me sympathy. My wife’s colleague lived with us for a bit and she would try to tell me anecdotes from work that didn’t actually happen to her as if she was involved. I’d talk to my wife and ask about the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this drunk shoplifter or something and my wife would be confused and say that happened to someone else on another day. She was a very weird person, as if she didn’t have a personality of her own. She got very upset when my wife would spend time with me instead of her and started buying the same (or similar) clothes and things. I think she was just very needy. She came to live with us because she said her previous flatmate was horrible, but when we met them they seemed pretty nice. After she lived with us for a while we started to see that maybe it was her that was the issue.
We were watching Alien one night and she came in and sat on the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this opposite couch asked what we were watching and then said something like ‘oh, I don’t like horror movies’. Sat in silence for a bit and then left. Apparently we were supposed to have put the movie off and watched something else. My mum saw a panther-like Big Cat on her way home from work one night. She’s told us the story many times over the years, so I’m familiar with all the beats of it, especially how she was too afraid to get out of the car when she got home, and sat in the drive for half an hour before bolting to the door. The last time a Big Cat sighting came up in the news, my dad told her story, beat-for-beat, as if it was his own. He was even describing the emotions as if he’d felt them, it was freaky. When we challenged him about it, he doubled down, and described the stretch of road it had happened on, as if that was proof. I think he still thinks it was his story and memory. Very weird. In school we had to do a desert island discs thing for English and one of the songs I chose was rocking all over the world because it had been playing in the stadium after we won the play off final which I went to with my dad.
I was talking with my friends about what we were picking and then when we went to present, my friend went first and said the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this exact same thing. When I was a trainee, I and the other trainees had a regular weekly meeting with our boss, and it was a ritual that he would tell us a joke. The joke was always the post-credits Alice/Geraldine joke from the episode of the Vicar of Dibley which had been broadcast the night before. I genuinely believe it didn’t occur to him that we might have televisions. I was a new employee at this company, and we have children as clients. I told one of the higher ups before the next client, that the client was a kid of one of the other employees. She told me no they weren’t, not to lie and then quizzed me on all the details. (I’d been working with the client for three weeks and met and worked with his mum). Well in come a whole bunch of other employees, and this lady starts telling them all “did you know the kid was a child of x blah blah blah” a) absolutely breaking their confidentiality for gossip, and b) she just told me i was lying about it!! Not quite what you’re asking. But someone I worked with listened to the same podcast as me which was loosely work related. We discussed a particular episode where the host discussed some change in the workplace to boost innovation.
That colleague then went and repeated the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this anecdote from the podcast verbatim in a meeting with a potential collaborator as if it was his own. I was genuinely flabbergasted at him doing it. It was really weird. A manager of mine, many moons ago, would regularly ask for ideas on how to improve sales / profit etc. I swear every meeting with the directors he would spew out everyone’s ideas as if he had just thought of them. My ex was trying to impress a stand up comedian we got talking to after a gig and started telling one of my family anecdotes as if he’d witnessed it. When I interrupted him to tell him to stop being a prat, the comedian interrupted me to tell me to let story tellers talk. When I was at school I tried to tell the joke about the pirate who goes into a pub with a steering wheel attached to his groin. The barman asks why he has the steering wheel and the pirate responds “Arr, it’s drivin’ me nuts!”
Except I catastrophically fucked up the Arrow McLaren Bruce McLaren There Is No Finish Line Vintage Shirt in contrast I will get this punchline and instead said “Arr, it’s steerin’ me balls!” Cue lots of blank expressions. I realised and explained the correct punchline but the damage had been done, my mates continued to rinse me for this fuckup the rest of our school lives. A few years later I told this story on a pretty obscure, not-very-active internet forum. Then a bit after that, on the same forum, someone posted this webcomic: I responded said “that’s a bizarre coincidence, I fucked up exactly that same punchline when I was at school”. The person who posted the comic said they said they had seen my previous post and that it was obvious I was lying — I had seen the webcomic and had tried to steal the story as my own. To this day I don’t get what happened here. Did the creator of that webcomic happen to find my stupid “steering me balls” story on this obscure corner of that internet and rip it off for their comic? Or was it just a weird coincidence? Is the world full of people independently fucking up that same punchline?

Mine wasn’t stolen personally, but I have accidentally stolen a friend’s by misattributing it to someone else and telling the original owner the story a few years later which must have been deeply confusing for them. Has repeated the same story that a friend of ours told his days before to a group of people, only he was the main character. Not quite the same but – My sister had a flatmate who twice, on separate occasions over a year apart, came home from work shaken because ‘the lights all went off on the tube, and a voice over the tannoy said bwahahaha’.
