Probably one of the major contributing factors to why theres so many people living in poverty in the US. Live with your parents for as long as you can. Just bc you’ve heard of it happening in the US doesn’t mean that all or majority of Americans generally do it. They don’t. At least not majority. Neither me nor anyone I know was forced out at 18. Sure it happens but it happens to an extent everywhere. Some of us want to leave the house. We either want freedom or to be independent. Personally I don’t like mooching off of other people and believe that you should pay your own way through life. I wasn’t raised to be handed everything and to have to do things for myself. I’m glad I am that way. I think more people need to think that way.

I think they move out to start their own lives with their own house rules. I’m not aware of anyone kicking out their kids at 18. Yeah it’s silly, the kid winds up renting a place. Whereas in many cultures, the kid stays home until he or she gets married, and then they can buy a property instead of wasting all that money on rent. So you saved up for a house and didn’t contribute ie. rent/bills until you moved out at 27…I would be embarrassed to say the least. Entitlement. We feel we are entitled to be independent, on our own and the world owes us a house and health insurance. Family values are a lot lower here in the USA. That’s why we have such high rates of homelessness. I some believe for a second that homeless people don’t have family. Good question though.
