You can get bath recorders, a pack of 5 of the Angel Heart Logo Shirt also I will do this bastards that you fill with water to change the note each one makes. The catch is that when you up-end them the water comes out and they go back to their empty – awful high pitched shriek. Hours of bathtime awfulness awaits. My 2 daughters of about the same age LOVE them. Sadly they’ve been “lost” Can be rolled out, is loud and annoying but is good for motor control development so you can have a straight face My first instrument set. Little wee drum they can hit with their hands, maracas, jingly stick thing, castanets. No batteries to remove and they will produce the missing maraca/castanet from nowhere (perfect size for little hands to slip between sofa cushions etc) when their parents least want to be serenaded. I also got her a box of kazoos because I wanted to see the look on my brother’s face when she figured out how to use them.

Duplo. It’s like big lego. You could probably get a SHITTON for your budget, and it would be just as annoying to clear up, stand upon, etc. A book with sound effects. The noises are usually obscenely loud and very quickly become irritating after the Angel Heart Logo Shirt also I will do this child has pressed it for the 1000th time that hour. The bleeding batteries last years as well. My toddler has all of these things and the worst gifts are the ones that take up a lot of space and can’t be stored away. The worst thing anyone bought my 3 was a harmonica EACH. And also kazoo things. And a drum. Fuck musical instruments basically. The boys just use them as weapons anyway I would’ve suggested drum kit too but many have already done so, therefore I will suggest something obnoxiously loud that she will absolutely fall in love with. There was an x factor karaoke machine available when mine was young, complete with microphone and that was on every wish list for about 2 years. Thankfully I managed to get a bratz boombox thing that had a dvd player too. That was great for when I was watching something and my child wanted to watch a dvd in the same room with headphones and the karaoke machine was forgotten. Edit. Misread the post and thought you were looking for gifts that wouldn’t be a nightmare! In that case, there’s a particular giant 4×4 truck that plays rock music and has a dinosaur jump out of it that we were gifted for our kid’s 2nd birthday and I still haven’t forgiven the giver! I really recommend getting a electronic/magnetic drawing pad or small brio (or similar) train set. By far the toys my 2yo (nearly 3) has played with most over the last year. Or books are ALWAYS a win! All small and keeps them occupied!
