I will be leaving a job after 4 years. My boss offered to have a farewell lunch which I appreciate. In the All I Want For Christmas coffee T-Shirt In addition,I will do this last 6 months, I am feeling the work culture to be toxic due to a particular person having an agenda against me and spreading rumors. I feel a lot of them are waiting for me to leave and would not come. I am tempted to decline the farewell because I am scared of the low turnout and the rejection. What would you advise? So if all the people who don’t like you won’t show up, and all the people who do like you will show up, I don’t see what the problem is. Exactly, go enjoy the food on their dime and leave after. Work is like H.S not everyone likes you. Just show up and leave with your head up high.

All I Want For Christmas coffee T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

I wouldn’t care if they would or wouldn’t go. My priority is the All I Want For Christmas coffee T-Shirt In addition,I will do this free lunch. Not going or declining sends the message that they dictate my actions. And it denies me free lunch. Free lunch is the highest motivator here. OP request you pick the food. No matter who shows, maybe you can get the left overs Oohhh good call! Yeah, OP, pick the location. Maybe something the people you don’t like are allergic to or something. Yea but if you are forced to hang out with people that you don’t really want to, (presumably), is it really a free lunch? My time and who I choose to spend it with has more value to me than most lunches. I could have written OP’s post. I declined a farewell lunch a few years ago for the same reason. I’m a very sensitive person and just wanted to leave the job that had become toxic. I totally understand OP’s thinking. Work has one purpose only, to gain control over the resources required to live the life they desire. It is not a social environment, except for a few specifically defined relationship-based roles. They are usually under sales or executive mgmt. I would not waste my time, especially if I am leaving for the resons OP is. What a depressing take. I have made several very good friends at work over the years. In fact my personal relationship helped get me my current job. People at work are still people. What a dry awful way to go about life. We spend 35-50% of our waking hours at work, might as well make it minimally bearable by having cordial friendly relationships.
