This is a bit disengenious. If you are living in a state where the Alicev High School Class of 2024 shirt so you should to go to store and get this minimum wage is $7.25 I’m sure the median housing price isn’t $550k. A $500k house in my shithole flyover state is like a mansion, probably a new construction too. The house in the photo would be like $120-150k (assuming the inside is in good condition) – little houses from the ’50s in small town America just aren’t worth much because they’re literally everywhere and you average small town plot isn’t valuable. I am adding value by pointing out your atrocious logic and preventing others from falling in the same trap you did. Yes, let the point fly directly over your head. It seems to me to be equally plain that no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country. By “business” I mean the Alicev High School Class of 2024 shirt so you should to go to store and get this whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level-I mean the wages of decent living. I think minimum wage would be way too high if it allowed you to afford a house anywhere in the country. If the country on average actually had the housing supply we need then prices would be much more reasonable. Even with the terrible interest rates we have now houses in desirable areas still get over asking. Minimum wage should definitely be higher but that’s not really the lever to use when fixing the US housing problem. The problem come not only from the minimum wage but all the wages from top to bottom. Yes, the minimum wage should allow anyone to be able to live anywhere in the US, owning or not (Don’t forget that rent is often the same price or higher than the cost of buying a house). But everyone is getting screwed right now and for a long time.
