Keep in mind this was AFTER we’d written a paper on the A Fine Beer May Be Judged With Only One Sip Best To Be Completely Sure T-Shirt in addition I really love this poem. So we’re talking about probably a solid 6-8 hours of total work. I think this is one of the most interesting posts I’ve ever read on Reddit. Big thank you to all the thoughtful posts. ADHD is rampant in my family. My sister is a material science engineer who has absolutely no street smarts at all. Different minds… It’s why most things are team effort. If you’re talking about speed, then it makes sense to me. Much of academic success comes from moving slow, being careful, and checking twice. It’s a slow pace that leads to excellence. Hastily completing tasks means you’ll inevitably makes mistakes that you miss. Education and intelligence are two separate things. Sounds like she was well-educated in high school but might lack intelligence and common sense. Also, sometimes academic success is simply access to opportunity, like having the opportunity to get homework and extra studying done I had to learn to do basic tasks and have anxiety about doing them because I was told I was stupid for trying + turns out, I was really good at “learn info and share it in a yes/no situation where there Is A Right Way to Do It” (school) because I was on the spectrum. Because schools look at final result only. I had a friend in software developer BA program, he was extremely slow but still graduated with 4.0. what I mean by slow is that for him to solve a simple problem would sometimes take hours while I would do it in 30mins, for him to do projects would take days while I would do it all in 2 days. I also graduated with 4.0 but while he was studying for 8 hours every day I was having fun and only doing real school work about 2 or 3 days a week. It’s not to say that he is stupid or anything, his brain just works differently. Patience creates success. She succeeds where you failed because she takes things slowly, methodically, and mindfully. That frustrated reaction you have to the time she takes for each thing is what’s holding you back.

Some people can be highly intelligent and yet stupid as f@#k. It’s surprising more common than you think unfortunately. I’ve known so, so many people from high academia to be some of the A Fine Beer May Be Judged With Only One Sip Best To Be Completely Sure T-Shirt in addition I really love this most obtuse, clueless, helpless humans in the world. They’re incredibly mentally capable but lack social, physical, and practical skills necessary to be truly intelligent. It’s common. A friend of mine was a brilliant programmer. I met him in his 50’s. He knew he was over weight he knew his diet and exercise were shit. He couldn’t help it and died in 2 years. I have always been great at school and have a high IQ (tested as a child, but my parents wouldn’t tell me what it was). I also have ADHD that has worsened drastically as I’ve gotten older. Household tasks take me a very long time because I get distracted so easily.
