have a temporary department go through the 30 Years Old Vintage 1993 Limited Edition 30th Birthday T-Shirt in other words I will buy this current costs of college, evaluate how much it’s actually worth based on the job acquired with said degree( the pay, benefits and all), and determine the amount the debtor should actually pay I hate the idea that people get off Scott free on loans that they benefited from (supposedly) but I also recognize that the whole college class has been lied to. I would only be willing to support college debt relief if we actually tried to solve the root cause of the problem. The whole point of student loan forgiveness is to boost the economy and allow people to buy cars and houses ect. I paid my loans off 2 years ago, three years after graduation by living with family, delaying starting a family, buying a new car, house. There should be $5,000 paid to people like me. If they roll it out there should be payments made to students who paid off their debt within the last 5 years

Why the 30 Years Old Vintage 1993 Limited Edition 30th Birthday T-Shirt in other words I will buy this fuk would we pay off the most well off peoples debt? This is such a crazy thought to me and a terrible talking point I did ROTC and had all college expenses covered in exchange for years of service in the military. I still support erasing student debt because there are very negative 2nd and 3rd orders of effects that come about from that debt. That being said, it is very frustrating to see friends complain about their student debt while living above their means, making minimum payments, etc, etc… For alot of ordinary people It’s not that they won’t benefit from it, it’s that it will legitimately disadvantage them. Who has more purchasing power? The 33 year old who just finished paying off their student loans but has no savings as a result? Or the 23 year old in the same life circumstances and same career path who just had their loans forgiven and can now bank earnings immediately? The answer SHOULD be the 33 year old, but it’s really a virtual tie. Someone has to get fucked in order to make this change. I’m pragmatic about that, understand it, it is what it is, but let’s stop pretending that this isn’t the case. Many people in their 30s will be permanently fucked out of ever buying a home. With today’s real estate prices, coupled with the fact that they would then have to directly compete with people in their 20s for the same real estate and who get debt forgiven, that’s really unfortunate. Such a plan should in reality come with some sort of homebuying subsidy/incentives for those who were still paying off student loans within the past 5 or so years to level the playing field a bit.
