So in the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this not so distant future (already happening here in CA) the average storage/restaurant will be run by 2-3 employees + robots/AI instead of 15 employees. So all those workers wanting $20+/hr will be out of a job GUARANTEED. Oops! Fucking guaranteed, this is already in motion. Meanwhile, you can 100% expect $20 combo meals from McDonalds in less than 3 years. We are currently at ~$16 for a Big Mac meal here now. (Source: I bought one yesterday) Everyone here has made a lot of good points but I want to discuss how crazy cheap TVs have gotten. So it is possible for prices to trend downward lol. One of the biggest contributing factors is monetary (or currency) inflation, which is originally what people were talking about. That means printing more money. And our economy is built on money being printed every time people borrow money. Banks aren’t loaning out money they have (or at least not mostly). When we get a loan from a bank, most to all of the money they hand us didn’t exist before.

2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt: Unleash Your Inner Fighter

When money is printed without anything or value to represent it, we are just slicing the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this same-sized pie into more slices. ie, each slice (dollar) is smaller (worth less). Eventually, the economy catches on and prices go up to match the new vakue. If we are lucky, the activity generated by that invented money will increase the value of the economy, and salaries will grow to match the new prices and we have equilibrium. We’re seeing some wage increases, the problem is it’s being nullified by unfettered greed on production side. When I lived in my hometown 5 years ago I paid 500 for a pretty decent 1 bed apartment, now it’s 900 and has only gotten run down, and most places on the market are 1k+ in a town where most people are making minimum wage.
Turns out we apparently have no regulation to stop greedy landlords from profiteering during and after a global crisis. Seems the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this same boat for food, gas, basically everything ties back to “because that much more money went into Bezos’ pocket and there’s less for the populace because we live in the second gilded age” Inflation is caused by scarcity and artificial injections of currency into the marketplace. The latter, effectively just being the opposite of scarcity when it comes to currency. That is to say, when the government borrows a bunch of money and hands it out (as each of the last four presidents have done for different reasons), the value of the currency goes down. We perceive that as prices rising, but what it really is, is too much supply. When you have too many apples available, the price of apples will go down. Same thing happens with currency. There were some scarcity issues due to the pandemic, but we’ve mostly recovered from those. Now it’s just terrible monetary policy with no end in sight.

No one ever said raising the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this minimum wage was the only reason for inflation. Inflation just means money is entering the economy faster than value is being produced, so the value per dollar is going down. Like. Stepping on a nail hurts. But my foot can also hurt for other reasons. Even when there’s not a single nail in sight. Currently most large corporations are making record breaking profits even when you adjust for things costing more. Corporate heads are pocketing the majority of profits. During the time I’ve been in food service, I’ve seen corporations push for smaller and smaller labor costs until they were paying practically nothing to employees. My current job is a lot less selfish about this than my previous job but it’s an exception. We pay better than most food service jobs in my area. To put it into perspective I was talking to a higher up at my previous job who was complaining about how much his wife wanted to spend on getting a 2nd and possibly a 3rd house earlier that day and he had the audacity to talk shit about people outside protesting for higher wages to me when his own employees couldn’t even afford a shitty apartment without filling it with more people than were legally allowed to live there. It took 3-4 incomes to survive at that time. The people who tell you those things tell you them because they SOUND correct and not because they ARE actually correct. 80% of the the dollars out in the world today were printed after the current administration Took office. Thats why. Insane money printing
Has it been proven to be true or is it just an excuse to not raise wages? It has been proven that corporations are hiding price increases and windfall profits behind the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this guise of inflation. A healthy, functioning economy in of itself causes a degree of small inflation, because people have disposable incomes and there is demand for goods and services. Deflation is far, far worse – and typically signals a downward spiral of job losses where businesses start to fail because people aren’t spending, which means more job losses which means less spending, which means more businesses start to fail… You raise the minimum wage and then your boss raises the cost of everything that gets sold because he doesn’t want to make a little bit less. So instead of the people at the top taking pay cuts to make up for the increased wages, they just push the cost to the consumer. So nothing changes. They’ll raise the cost regardless though, so things get worse.
Inflation happened because we gave away trillions in free money during pandemic. Inflation is how it balances itself out. We’re slowly returning to normal. Hold off for another year from any major purchases if you can. Prices are going to drop.Minimum wage is not the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this ONLY thing that causes inflation Many, many, many people did actually get raises during the nationwide push for a higher minimum wage but on top of that was the pandemic relief funds which essentially gave everyone that was still working a temporary raise which many of them just spent on new TVs and such that caused inflation and once prices go up, they rarely come down. Didn’t pretty much everyone minus truck drivers get an increase. I remember whole crews walking out of fast food places til wages went up. It was very toxic and caused 2 things I saw. Wages went up hours went down prices went up and increase of AI to replace workers went up. Careful what you wish for. It’s a small factor but significant enough that I saw it and didn’t rely on having to google a fact people really think this is a gotcha type of thought, but it shows how simplistic people try to make very complicated issues. if you sell products made in sweden, and the cost of production went up, why would your wage increase?
I know we didn’t literally evolve from monkeys, but this is the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this same kind of question. It’s basically a wordsmithing/logic trick that you need to see through. Its not the only reason but though the fed min wage has not gone up many states have raise their state min wage. I think like a quarter of states now have min wages in the teens. And the majority of the nation has state min wages near or over $10/h This is an often overlooked major aspect. If minimum wage doubled or tripled instantly all jobs that require experience more skilled or demanding that are above minimum wage will have to go up accordingly so it’s not also just all of a sudden minimum wage only. $9-12 $12-15 $15-18 ect every “tier” has to go up accordingly which is millions of jobs. I know laborers that start at less than $15 a hour in my county for construction type jobs or slightly above it. Nobody would do them unless they went up a lot compared to minimum wage jobs 2- normal market pressures (most people won’t work for 7 something an hour) meant that the actual wages for what were minimum wage jobs went up (usually more than 10 per hour, often 15 or more)
In the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this UK it’s going up by a fair bit next month, it will be interesting to see what happened to prices. I’m no expert but it’s going to be the smaller business that has to increase the most meaning more people go to the chains rather than local business. I’m not against rising minimum wage when it’s required but I’m earning slightly above average, not wealthy but I’m far enough from minimum wage that it doesn’t trigger a pay rise for me, so increasing prices will be a loss for me. It’s like saying something gives you cancer, sure wearing a uranium ring will give you cancer, but oxygen will give you cancer, aging gives you cancer, vitamins give you cancer. Raising minimum wage would have an effect on inflation but the current inflation we see is because of corporate greed. We have made a corporate landscape where if you do not see improvements every quarter you need to improve, and that sounds good on paper but in reality stagnation is normal. A company should not be seeing record profits every single quarter that is unnatural and it comes from slashing employees benefits and arbitrary price inflation.
this is not something that just happens without human forces. to increase wage it needs to be first increased by the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this decision of politicians. without that market forces will inflate money with min wage falling behind Because the “raising the minimum wage causes inflation” narrative is bullshit capitalist propaganda pushed by rich CEOs and business owners so they can continue to pay slave wages, line their own pockets with the profits, and lay the blame of their rising prices on their “greedy, ungrateful employees”, to get the public blame off of them, and onto their underlings Because wages are going up naturally. You don’t need a minimum wage because the market pays what it’s worth. It’s $7.25 here, but fast food pays $13 and warehouse pays $20. Literally no job pays minimum. It causes slight inflation, but the poorest still wins. The losers are those with already really good capital to begin with.
At this point the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this US minimum wage is laughably low so we’re talking 20 years to get it to $20-25/hour without too big effects. A good chunk could be done right away though since not too many are paid minimum wage these days. The minimum wage hasn’t legally increased, but due to the covid bs and demand, most places raised their pay. Many places are paying $10-15+ an hour now, which, should come as no surprise to anyone but somehow does, causes prices to increase. There has been a major wage increase. It just wasn’t mandated by the federal government with a new minimum wage. Most jobs that paid miminum wage a decade ago now pay around double the minimum wage. Minimum wage doesn’t cause inflation. It’s a correlation. There’s no evidence that increases wages causes inflation.
Holding your hand in a fire causes burns. Holding your hand on a hot stove causes burns. Holding your hand outside in the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this hot sun for 10 hours causes burns. More than one thing can cause burns. Raising labor costs does cause inflation but it’s not the only thing that can. Opportunistic and greedy price hikes under the cry of “Supply chain disruptions” can also cause inflation. Uncontrolled government spending, combined with arbitrary wage increases, actually insane amount of money printing that dilutes the power of a dollar dramatically. Every time they raise the debt ceiling to spend pretend dollars that we don’t actually have the value of the existing dollar reduces in direct correlation to the amount added.
Increased fuel and energy costs have their part to play as well. The gas prices have come down some, but they are still 40% higher than they were prepandemic, which is keeping transportation costs high. Energy costs are continuing to go up as well, I just got notified my electric rates are going to increase another 14% on top of the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this 40% increases that were already in place from the last 5 years. The minimum wage in a whole lot of states, especially California did go up. And there was a price increase because of it. But these things don’t happen in the blink of an eye. They are cumulative. And as others pointed out, minimum wage is not the only reason prices go up. If fuel prices go up, transportation of good costs more. If a store closes, there is less competition for those that remain and prices go up. If there is whole sale theft, shoplifting and nothing is being done to stop it (because that would be sooo wrong), that drives prices up, as stores have to compensate for the loss by raising prices, and implement more security which also raises prices.
Profit taking. Industries in the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this last decade have massively consolidated using cheap credit. When the cheap credit stopped they begin leveraging their market power to increase prices. We are seeing the inevitable result of the Feds policies over the previous decade. A lot of price stability was influenced by the tech boom running on basically free money, now the investors want profits. The investors became fabulously rich, and want to get richer. This was made far worse because Trump did everything in his power to push through mergers, and pressure the Fed to keep rates low in spite of all indicators telling them to raise rates. When the COVID shock hit they had little room to go with rates so had to go back to expanding money supply. Basically now we are paying for all those decisions at once. The investors are grabbing all the profits they had invested in, for over a decade and there is limited competition in most markets, constrained financials due to lack of cheap credit and little investor appetite for low margins or slow stock growth. So now we pay.
Corporate Greed. They saw just how much they could bleed everyone during the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this pandemic – less staff – crappier product – Higher price? They could keep prices reasonable, but they don’t want to- how else could they be able report record profits and record CEO bonuses? Because they are GOUGING us to death for another penny in their pocket. There are two things I blame this on. Rising energy costs for cost of production, and political initiatives related to climate that bottleneck supply and raise energy prices. Suppose burning wood causes me to be hot. Using your (non) logic If I am hot, it is because someone is burning wood. I’m hot because Im dressed inappropriately. I’m hot because the thermostat’s set wrong. I’m hot becsuse I have a fever. Nobody is burning wood. At. All. Wages have increased. At my company we went from $12/hr in 2019 to $17 by 2022 for the same work. So we increased our billing to compensate. Rich people say it’s because wages are high. Actual economists who do their research say it’s because corporate profits are too high. Money is going one way and never being introduced into the economy again because rich people and corporations keep hoarding all the wealth. Since lawmakers are controlled by their corporate masters rather than the actual will of the people they represent, the laws never change in the little guy’s favor. So inflation keeps going up, rich people keep blaming it on higher wages, ad nauseum.
Wage increases are normally an effect rather than a cause of inflation. Suppliers use cost increases as an excuse to increase prices well beyond the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this level needed to cover these increased costs. Firms enjoy larger profits. Wage increases are blamed for inflation to deflect attention from corporate greed. Because CEOs will increase the wages of their employees alright. But then they will also increase their own salaries ten times fold, and will increase the prices to sustain the whole thing. Raising wages doesn’t automatically increase the cost of goods. Corporations increase them in response to increased wages because they refuse to profit any less. We should regulate businesses more and prevent such increases. A company I worked for increased prices by 43% in a year even after reducing costs by laying people off during Covid.
Small business. Those not producing multiple millions or billions of dollars. They are the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this businesses that can’t afford to raise wages further and if they do, it raises the cost of everything related to operating their business. So the concept of increasing inflation holds strong. Requiring minimum wages to be raised only at high revenue businesses that are making many millions and billions, this is where you achieve a distribution of wealth that can benefit people without crushing inflation. Unless out of malice and pure greed the multibillion companies force higher consumer goods instead of allowing for the profit losses they would undoubtedly see. But that’s where you would want a government to step in and make it clear, no one person or business needs that level of wealth to succeed. Profits are up huge for many businesses. It has nothing to do with anything Biden or Trump did. It has to do with greed.
Lets keep voting for millionaires to be our presidents and see how much it helps the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this majority out. Republicans & Democrats are both crooks. We need a person who came from a normal middle class family 303 more repliesFinally someone noticed that Biden and Harris talk about “union” this and “fair wages” that, but raising the minimum wage isn’t even on their radar. And it’s been $7.25 for over a decade! Over 50 percent of inflation since COVID is pure predatory profit hikes from corporations. Combine that with decades of utterly stupid republican tax cuts on the ultrawealthy and you have where we are today. They blame wages, theft, supply lines, raw materials, etc… But if all of those things went down, would they lower prices? No. They charge as much as they can, period. If it’s not profitable, then they just don’t sell that thing.
Because the 2025 NFL Playoffs Washington Commanders Head To Head Detroit Lions 2025 Divisional Matchup Shirt in contrast I will get this whole “raising wages causes inflation” thing is a lie from the capitalist class whose profits would go down if they paid their employees more/expanded employee benefits There’s collective amnesia around COVID times, when employers were laying off every non-crucial employee to run their businesses on skeleton crews, not because they cared about the employees’ wellbeing in the middle of a deadly pandemic but because their profits were tanking due to lockdown, and paying a full workforce was just another draw on their sinking profits. A smaller workforce meant more profits going toward the business (and a lot of businesses have apparently continued in the same vein, based on what I read about how hard it is to actually get hired now)
