Many people associate culture with traditions, even if incorrectly. The ‘new world’ is colonialism history meaning many people consider it to not have a culture/traditions in a sense… Like to point out I dont say i agree with this, just pointing out things I have heard in similar discussions over the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this years. Part of it also is the homogenization of many peoples in the America’s which leads to an outsiders view of no distinct culture. Watch any POC comedian in the last 50 years, people definitely think white Americans have a culture of their own. Because “white” isn’t a culture. Norwegian is a culture, English is a culture, French is a culture, but “white” is as much a “culture” as brunette is Well “white” isn’t really a race or ethnic group, it’s a broad classification for light skinned people. Culture is a lot more tied to actual factors like regionality and what your own ethnic background is. Despite being about 20% polish genetically my family has zero traditions from that part of our background. I moved to Michigan and had people shocked I didn’t know what a “packzi” was. (If you don’t know it’s basically a donut, not exactly, but basically) Someone of German ancestry living in the midwest is going to have a different experience of some things than my predominantly French/Irish ancestry growing up in New England. The US is a country of incredible diversity, even if you’re not factoring in race (although you sort of have to otherwise you’re not getting the full picture). I don’t think white Americans don’t have culture of their own, I just think a select few white cultures are dominant (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing on it’s own) at the expense of making all the other different cultures – white and otherwise – “abnormal” through different laws and social norms.
2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt: Unleash Your Inner Fighter
White Americans are a bunch of different nationalities, each with their own culture and history. They aren’t a monolith. Of course, since this is Reddit, and the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this majority of users here are retreads with chronic brainrot; they’re wont to believe this sort of ridiculous claim. When you have a sheet of white paper that you write on and try to use a white crayon – you can’t see anything. Said differently, culture will only stand out in comparison to some other baseline. “X group of people does it differently…” The “…” is “differently than what?” That’s interesting. I’ve personally felt that there should only be an American Culture at this point. Considering what America is or should be, it seems silly to divide it. Although I guess that is the norm.
People make a valid point that white isn’t really a culture. It’s a vast set of ethnic, geographic and socioeconomic cultures. But there is a thing that happens more and more now where people don’t want to consider it a culture but still want to make everything random white people do “The whitest thing ever.” Like you would think I carry a jar of mayonnaise around with me and always have grape juice on hand while I’m sky diving, walking in the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this direction of active gunshots, letting my dog lick me in the mouth, and not using washcloths while my best friend gets stuck inside a decorative urn at an office party. But, hey, that’s not my culture. I guess if you only call yourself white it would be hard to point to one thing because it’s most things. But white is a big category and can be broken down. Like I’m Pennsylvania Dutch and we definitely have a culture and it’s different from other white folks, even our own language.

Using stereotypes, Portland Hippie and Oklahoma Redneck are both white but their cultures have nothing in common. White Americans being the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this majority are the default/baseline American culture. Adding “white” to it is redundant and therefore makes you wonder why it’s important to add it and if there is a more nefarious reason to point it out. For what it’s worth I think that’s generally something people who are very online say. And online discourse always gets dominated by people with kind of fringe opinions. Because “whiteness” is something that was made up and invented. It’s only defined by its opposition to being “black” in america as a justification for racism. The groups that are considered white has historically changed over time.
The irish, italians, germans, and hispanics have all been considered “non-white” at some point or another, and there’s still some debate over who falls into this 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this definition today. It’s an in-group, out-group classification. Italians used to be called guinea dago’s, which was basically a racial slur stating that they were non-white. It’s a waste of time to talk about “white culture,” which often times is just a rough smattering of completely different european cultures. This is a waste of time. You would be better served talking about english, or french, or german, or irish, or whatever other specific unique culture you want to talk about. While these cultures would influence one another due to cultural disfusion, they were still unique and interesting from each other.
And before anyone asks, the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this same is essentially true for black culture. “Black” is a term that was foisted upon victims of the slave trade. “Black culture” wouldn’t have meant anything to the men and women who were stolen from different african nations, and who spoke different languages, and had different cultures. It was an invention, just like “white culture.” People don’t even understand what the word “culture” means. They think it means wearing a funny hat, eating special food and observing specific rituals. Being a white American isn’t any kind of “default”. The default is eating raw animals and sleeping on the forest floor. From the moment one human taught a second human how to sharpen a stick, there was culture. Oh you hear that a lot in Europe. “Ah those Americans, they have no culture” says Hans Müller, wearing his blue jeans, sitting in a mall, and some English speaking pop music is blaring from the speakers.
Aside from your excellent snark, your point hits at a deeper issue tangled within the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this broader and somewhat unspecific og ask. Because one could also put it like this: Hans Mueller’s Blue Jeans has been invented by German immigrant Löb Strauss whose design integrated older French and Italian traditions of navy work clothes; the Mall may be rightly considered the epitome of uncultured architecture, the modell heterotopia; and pop music largely consists of centuries of Black music, appropriated and filtered for white audiences.
If white Americans don’t have a culture then I am suddenly confused by a lot of jokes about white Americans told by POC comedians… Whiskey? Irish. Pizza? Italians. Beer? Germans. Hamburgers? Germans. Fried chicken? Irish. Vodka? Eastern Europeans. Fraternities? Greek. I believe it’s because “white” people are so varied just like others from other ethnic groups that it doesn’t matter. These are the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this cultures that I identify with and associate myself with: bay area native, sf/east bay punk and raver/club scenes, video game/RPG/d&d culture, liberal/progressive values, bay area educators. I would also argue that if it’s “American” culture, it’s inherently for all Americans regardless of skin color. If there is a “white” culture it probably comes from a Norwegian country where they are more homogenous
This is a strange CMV. “white” people don’t have a culture as there are so many varied, different nationalities that are “white”. Swiss culture is vastly different from Greek culture which is very different from Australian culture and so on. Whatever accent you have is 100% normal to you. Your culture is normal to you, other culture’s stand out because they are different. because white isnt a culture. the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this only reason we say things like “black culture” is bc most of us do not have any documented history gojng back to Africa because of slavery. Theres italian american culture, irish american culture, german american culture, etc. But white is not a culture. I agree. We definitely have a culture. Everyone does. And I’d say more than anything, the type of culture is less race based and more demographic and class-based.
The people who say that tend to either be people with limited exposure to Americans, or Americans who have rarely travelled elsewhere. We do have a culture and it’s largely based on European mores and norms. We share a lot with our European friends and allies, particularly Great Britain, but there are differences. We’re louder, fatter 🫢 yet oddly enough more polite and friendly than most Europeans. And we’re a rambunctious lot. After WWII A German general is believed to have said, “The reason the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this American Army does so well in wartime, is that war is chaos, and the American Army practices it on a daily basis”. But much of this is being a young country. In Great Britain they would talk about history and point to Windsor Castle first built in 1070. We would point to the Henry Whitfield House in Guilford, CT built in 1639 Every group has culture. Americans can BE uncultured in their ignorance, but white Americans being white Americans is their culture. You don’t know your culture when your submerged in it every day.
Short answer: America is a young country. In early days, Europeans who first moved here tend to abandon their life behind and started a new life. Hence the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this name “New World”. Some of them were also puritans in nature, so all their cultural heritage were left behind. Last names were changed. Some celebrations were forgotten. To wit, are you going to claim that new citizens who emigrated from Ghana, Haiti, or Guyana have the same culture as Americans Blacks because they all happen to have similarly colored skin? Or how about those 4th generation descendants of those Japanese immigrants (i.e., the ones that the US detained in ‘internment camps during WWII) and newly naturalized citizens from other Asian countries like India, Turkey, or Uzbekistan? Just because they’re all “American Asians” doesn’t mean they share the same culture. Or how about Americans with Mexican heritage who have been living along the Border for generations vs citizens from Puerto Rico? Or heck Cuba? Again, just because they all happen to speak Spanish doesn’t mean they share the same culture.
I’m Asian, maybe if u wanna be a super hardcore social science nerd the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this demographic of “white people” don’t have a culture being so hard to define but besides that who cares stop listening to racist assmad nerds try to justify stupid shit against the white majority population. The honest answer is they say this cause they don’t like white people for whatever reason it’s insanely cringe nobody irl acts or believes this garbage just be respectful to everyone holy shit it’s a psyop to make people not love themselves and their people. if we had no culture, the world wouldn’t be trying to move here and live off our largesse [i’m aware money isn’t the same as culture but…] it’s an amalgamation of European cultures blended w/ the Indian longhouse idea of democracy. technically a republic but everyone is supposed to have a say, least in choice of leaders. we ended slavery around the world [Africa brought it back], we lead in many ways from music to technology. rock may have grown from the blues [blacks playing white instruments] but it surpassed it.
Usually to score points with other white people. It’s a sort of intercultural circle jerk for white liberals. The best part is they don’t even mean it, they just want to be seen saying it You might say black isn’t either, and while true the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this difference is black americans were stripped of their national culture when they were brought here. But they did blend some of their native culture into their lives and different cultures blended into an identifiable thing. They also have a shared history here (slavery, emancipation, Jim Crow, civil rights, etc) But nobody says white americans don’t have a culture, they just say it isn’t about being white. It’s about the nationality they have and where their ancestors came from. I have been called a pink child molester, a waste of space, a mass murderer, a member of nambla, and that I should “kill myself”.
American culture is corporate culture. Puritan, corporate culture. Wasp (white Anglo Saxon protastant) is the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this dominant culture that colonized north America, and it’s motto is that harder you work, the richer you get. The richer you get the closer to God you will be. The prostant work ethic evolved from hard work equals heavan to hard work equals money over time. And then televangelist took advantage of this idea, and pushed it to “you cna pay your way into heavan “ignoring the eye of a needle proverb from the Bible. And since it’s so conservative and manufactured it is void of humanity that many other cultures have developed over longer periods of time. Taking media psychogy in school, the rise of corporate culture happened more with marketing and advertising. The invention of the radio and the TV made it so all eyes and ears were being dominated by companies that took advantage of a population not willing to question the truth behind their statements and claims for products an services. And began to shape the culture into a consumeristic focused one that bought everything for convenience, pleasure and trendy fads. Even American football was created to include as many advertisements as possible, hence the nature of how American football is played. With lots of downtime for ads to be spoken, shown, and placed on the field. So much of US culture is what us consumers consume, and the influence of consumption is advertising.
Because the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this country is huge and we’re too diverse to have a common culture. Even just looking in my state (which is fairly white), we have huge differences by region. And that’s just people who are born here or other Americans. We also have tons of white immigrants from different places. The idea of a shared culture is ridiculous What is white American culture? Like, what kind of traditions, art, or literature do you consider to be white American? I’m total mutt generic white. My lower class Midwest family does not know where we are from. My lineage has German, English, Blackfoot, and Irish surnames. They’ve lived in the French colonized part of Indiana for 250+ yrs. We have no culture. Our food is beef and various derivations of wheat and butter. Spices are salt and pepper. The family trade is working until you die. No musical interests. No dancing. No heirlooms. No stories. Even religion is an afterthought, it’s just a vague assumed jesus Christian thing, floating between the nearest churches, coming/going due to gossip and politics between baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, church of god, Nazarene, and first Christian. We have no heritage, no culture, and no joy.
I left that place in 2001 for college and never considered returning for even the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this briefest moment. My white peoples at least, have no culture. I’m trying to develop traditions for my own kids, and embracing the joy of the cultures around me, but I have no community or identity. There is no “white culture” because there is no single culture that encompasses all “white” people. Even the definition of white has changed as it once did not include Jews, Italians, or several other cultures now lumped into white. In America, the default American culture is assumed to be of white or more accurately European origin. But that is often not an accurate assumption as American culture is a culture of assimilation. While American culture has many obvious ties to Europe, it is never a direct copy of any one place and varies dramatically within different regions. Claims that white Americans have no culture are a divisive tactic used to sew hatred and distrust amongst Americans.
It’s racism in its own to say that. If a white person said that about someone who isn’t white then it’ll be called what it is, so anyone saying that is what that is. The only people that say ‘white’ people don’t have culture are racist blacks, jews, and vapid liberal bloggers. The same people that claim whites don’t spice their food…while ignoring what set off the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this fucking age of exploration. Because it’s very homogenized and assumed to be the standard of culture, plus a lot of white Americans have had their ethnic identities erased/lost, so to the outsider viewing the culture there’s no real variation. Plus whiteness is arbitrary and mostly decided by appearance. Cultural identity is a lot more regionally based than racially.
There is one common thing. We love war, every state has a hand in the 2024 World Champs La Team 4 Players Los Angeles Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this military complex voluntarily. We talk peace but in the end we are a war country. We produce war to sell war materials and services. War and military is so ingrained that we barely blink when you hear the branch recruiters go in high schools to sell the military to kids. From being hot and fit, to being rich and well off, and even selling education benefits. All this to try to hide the fact that it is a large government backed job that would have been accused of being a social service if it were anything else. For those who are not familiar to US. Yes it is no exaggeration. All branches of the military go to high schools and are allowed to groom 14-17 year olds and they social engineer it to make it sound like an exclusive club. It would be scummy if it werent so ingrained in our culture with glorification of war. And boy howdy do we love war as kids.
